I'm not a coding genius, or very savvy with software, and all this talk of 'api' is making my head spin. I just want to see what armor I should be using, I don't understand how to do that. The armory is gone, ok, I'm a little behind on that one. I've spent an hour trying to figure out how an 'api' replaces that, where I can get an 'api', and everything is too technical for me. Please, have mercy upon my ignorant soul, tell me what I need to do or where to go to look up and compare types of armor?

the api is not for armor searching or gear upgrades the api is a resource for sites gto get information like the old armory user to for pulling charactor items and what not

i would suggest using askmrrobot.com if you wana know what armor you need they have a prity good database there

Hi, Froha,

Zonous is essentially correct, but I thought I'd clarify a little bit for you and other people who might stumble upon this thread.

The Community Platform API doesn't so much replace the old Armory as much as it replaces the ability that programmers had to get data from the old Armory. Not all of the features from the old Armory has been implemented in the new Battle.net website--however, the API provides access for programmers who want to to build their own tools, such as Ask Mr. Robot referenced by Zonous.

Decided to sneak backstage, did you? :) Now you get to see what really goes on behind the scenes at your favorite WoW related websites.

As Cyaga mentioned, this forum (Community Platform API) is used by developers of third party websites to help them build features that use data from World of Warcraft. Sites like Wowhead and AskMrRobot.com which was mentioned already. This forum isn't one you'd want to visit unless you were actually building such a website.

If you're just wanting to get a look at your armor and find upgrades or sort out any troubles, then those are the sites you'll want to visit. You might also visit your class forums here if you want to chat with other hunters, and also warcrafthuntersunion.com.

Thank you for clearing this all up Cyaga. Whenever I heard of the term API, I never quite understood what it meant or entailed but now I do. I don't see blizzard calling it "The Armory" anymore so I guess the term was just grandfathered in?

Everybody still says "armory" even though the features from the old armory are fully integrated into this web site now. It's merely for lack of a better term, I suppose. :)

"Armory" sounds so much cooler (and shorter!) than "The Battle.net Web Site." But, the new name is definitely more inclusive (especially of other games).
