Out of respect for those who have come before, I have taken it upon myself to document the wealth of wisdom acquired from the lives that have been lost in order to pass on the knowledge that others may continue safely along in their journeys.
Certain areas may prevent unforeseen dangers that should be avoided until such time as they can be safely experienced. I shall attempt to document such areas in these pages and call upon other challengers to share their wisdom. This is intended to identify unexpected challenges, not deaths from casual or sloppy play, or from player mistakes. Let's continue to keep casual commentary and conversation in the Ironman Challenge main threads. I will monitor the thread and update the faction/continent data so there should not be a need to search through the thread for new information. You may want to inspect the opposing faction entries for information that may be relevant to all players, regardless of faction. Updated through post: #200 |

I am the fifth generation of the Ironworgen family to undertake this challenge and I hope to learn from the experience of my predecessors and share it with other challengers.
The Cryo-Core area of Bloodmyst Isle has Blood Elves that apparently spawn into multiples when attacked or aggroed. This has been experience not only by he who came before me but by others as well. Beware! |
|
Elwynn Forest- When you get the quest to go after the "Collector", keep in mind that he has two friends hiding with him in his house. The first Ironmikey fell to this surprise.
Westfall- when you get to the quest where you talk to Kearnen to investigate the tower(sorry forgot the quest names), make sure you take your time approaching the tower. Yes, Kearnen will one shot them if they attack you, but he only takes out one at a time. If you approach at the wrong time, you can have up to five enemies attacking you(there's two sentries standing at the gate, two pats, and one guys standing off to the left that can be aggroed as well) and they are all elites and hit pretty hard. Attacking with your pet will NOT get Kearnen to start firing; you have to attack them. You can however send a pet in for initial aggro and then attack. Redridge-first, There is a lvl 20 Elite Shark(Ol' Gumby) swimming in the lake, so be careful! Also, as you advance in the quest line in Redridge, You'll get a quest to find Keeshan's buddies. One you find is being kept in a cage, and to get the key you have to walk through a "pit" that is surrounded by elite dogs and also an Elite pat that walks along the open path. You aggro any of these, YOU WILL DIE! Rather than take the chance, I moved on to fight the good fight elsewhere, you might want to do the same. That's what I remember coming across so far. I'll post more as I come upon them. |

Here's a tidbit courtesy of IronWorgen III (one of my Worgen ancestors) for a quest in the Worgen starting area.
On the quest Betrayal at Tempest's Reach, when turning in the quest, realize that despite all the non-hostile mobs around the quest receiver King Genn Greymane, there are hostile mobs in the area that will attack once you unstealth to turn in the quest. Either kill all the mobs in the area before turning in or immediately click the complete quest button (without reading the quest text) as the mobs will then turn non-hostile and stop attacking. Wetlands- when you reach Menethil Harbor(or what's left of it), one of the quests you will be given a quest to go kill Gobbler and 12 murlocs in the area. Watch your surroundings! There are murlocs running through the waterways scattered throughout the area and they move fast. A waterway that looks clear can suddenly become a death trap- Ironmikey here almost fell to this.
|
|
Tirisfal Glades - There's a quest that'll send you to kill farmers and pick up pumpkins. These farmers are pretty close together for a low level zone and can easily kill softer classes if they pull more than one. I have died several times there.
Also anything with murlocs. |
|
|
While I have not participated I want to point out that the invisibility liquor quest that the alliance side gets in elwynn forest can be hazardous. All of those murlocs in crystal lake are almost insta-respawn and there is one that runs all the way in from the far northern bank.

|
Redridge Mountains-When doing the quest Prisoners of War, the Bravo Company Field Kit can and will fail you at critical times. Although it is a fun questline, I would advise all to not take this quest and to level in a different area.

Darkshore:
When cleansing the maddened furbolgs, be sure kill as fast as possible the corruption that emerges from the furbolg after using the quest item. Once the corruption (can't miss it, looks like a sludge puddle, and appears to the right of the cleansed mob, at least it did for me) is completely and utterly dead. Until then, you will have both the 'bolg and the corruption dealing heavy damage. This is a very bad time for a random pat to join in (as it happened to me) to choose your pulls carefully. Watch out for heavy foliage, too. If your camera angle is set awkwardly, you may not immediately see where the corruption pops out, or if other mobs are patrolling nearby. For the sneaky panther quest, take care when traversing that upper walkway. It looks high enough that a fall might kill you. I haven't tried, but you've been warned. Those with a fear of heights may have some trouble. Be sure to park your pet at the foot of the (cleared) walkway before proceeding. The upper ledge is a very small area to fight in if for whatever reason your pet draws agro. Bloodmyst Island: Postpone any quests to the Cryo Core until you are at least 17 or 18. The few extra HPs will help since these Sunhawk mobs seem to have extra good hearing and tend to come quickly to each other's aid. The single pyro guy will quickly have two others with him in seconds if you are unlucky. Three fireballs at level 16, will take you down. Take care when talking to the gnome on the northern murloc infested beach. Although under a turtle shell, you are not as protected as you might think, and the gnome is very talkative. He might keep you there long enough for respawns to pop back up behind you. Try to stay out the water if possible. At the Vector Coil, take an extra moment and check how many Pyromancers/Defenders are near the mob you've targeted and are about to attack. From certain angles, that single mob is actually three. The pull gets really sloppy and exciting if you miss those others. Azuremyst Island: For the furbolg totem quest, be sure you have your wings visible along with a buff icon visible on your screen before leaping off that cliff to cross the river. I got lucky as the wings and buff popped as I stepped off that cliff. A split second later and I'd be just a stain on the rocks belong. I'm not sure if the wings/buff will show if you are already in free fall. You get a "falling and living" achievement when you land safely. |

Zone: Wetlands
Quest: Down in Thelgen Rock Once you loot the seismic record, a large water elemental, Torrention, will spawn behind you. I was up on the stone ledge away from the water, and level 25 to his 21, so I didn't aggro him and just stealthed away, but beware. IronWorgen V, level 25 Night Elf Druid |

Previous visions of Rustyiron have met untimely ends in Teladrassil, due to rare spawn furblogs Agal who has a couple of friends with him and Grimmaw up near the end furblog boss. These bears are not nice..
