240ms-400ms pvp - Impossible Disadvantage
|
For a pvp enthusiast, WoW falls very short in comparison to other PvP games.
For distance pings e.g. Australia, Singapore, and other South East Asian Countries; - we are cannon fodder for those with American Pings. this is something that blizzard has ignored for a long time. |
I don't think they actually promote the game as a pvp game anymore. It seems to me it's a pve game with a pvp option. There is no doubt wow pvp is a mess. I just pvp casually for fun now. It works out alright though because i heal in pvp and not dps. Apparently there is some new pvp content coming for MoP so we will just have to wait and see how that works out i guess. |

It is a mess, though when my ping is low enough for me not to lag i find that i kill the americans quite easily

What the hell? Is this English? |

Tanking, too, can be quite terrible with Oceanic/SEA pings.

Is this higher ping a problem with the oceanic servers in general, or from the fact that they're still hosted in the US, so oceanic people have a bit of trouble connecting to them?
Only asking because we are pondering switching servers, and our really late raid times would coincide pretty well with the prime time on oceanic servers, so they are pretty high on our list. Edit: We're a US (mostly) guild, would just be going oceanic for the time change. |
Is this higher ping a problem with the oceanic servers in general, or from the fact that they're still hosted in the US, so oceanic people have a bit of trouble connecting to them? It's geography. The Oceanic servers are in California but the routing for many of the Aussies goes through Asia before crossing the Pacific. They'll never get less than 100-150ms latency. Faster than light anyone? |
Is this higher ping a problem with the oceanic servers in general, or from the fact that they're still hosted in the US, so oceanic people have a bit of trouble connecting to them? I would kill for 150ms lol... Playing from SEA and it is night and day. Even connecting to US servers from Europe is a lot better, at 100 ping was owning everyone when I was on holiday. If they ever implement true oceanic servers imagine the better players you will become. Till then, keep working on your psychich skills to read the future to be able to land an interrupt... |

actually, playing with such a ping makes you a better pvper. But dw, you will keep complaining about it, that's all your type seem to be able to do.

Last summer I was in North America and enjoying under 100ms...then I went to NYC and played from a university dorm. My ping was 0-10ms...you are right, night and day difference in playing a game with a 10ms versus a 300-450ms ping. In pvp it makes ALL the difference.

I'm limited to playing a ranged class and can never PvP competitively because Blizzard won't allow me. It's cool how we get to miss out on most of the game because they can't be bothered setting up local servers.

Yet plenty of Oceanic players get Gladiator. |

This is true. We all live in the same house, playing at awful times so the server is empty, subscribed to external programs such as Lowerping. It's a grand old time we have. What was I thinking asking for equal opportunity? |
