After all the grinding in your other thread, that axe still wasn't sharp enough for you?
I haven't heard anybody rate this movie anything more than a good looking technical achievement, which is fair. Nobody is praising the story or acting, so how is it overrated? |
You forgot a certain Disney film, whose name shall not be mentioned. O GOD I HATE RIDDLES DAMN WAS IT LION KING OMG AM I RITE ???? it was ok i guess. definitely overhyped tho; but i didn't really hate it as such; but i do hate musicals in general so hmm. it was riddled with cliches too and mostly annoying ones. and it felt too long. |

1. The Matrix fixed |
1. Precious Never seen it or heard about it, so it can't be rated to high. 2. American Beauty That movie was awesome.
The special effects were awesome, I've never heard any one rate it high for anything else but it deserves to be rated high just for that. 9. Any Twilight Movie I don't think I've seen anyone besides 15 year old girls rate those movies well. 10. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) English remake Fair enough, these definitely get more praise than they should. 12. Any Transformers movie Why would you go to a Michael Bay movie expecting to see anything besides lots of explosions, lots of action and a hot chick? I knew exactly what I was getting into when I watched these movies and I was not disappointed. 13. Most James Bond movies How can you not like James Bond? |

1. Precious For the most part, I think you're confusing "overrated" with "it wasn't suited for my tastes". I do agree that the (modern) transformers series is overrated, however. |

district 9? how to train your dragon? citizen kane really wasn't that good either. i also find it amusing how you've picked out some movies from their trilogys/quadrilogys/xxxdrilogys - aliens? are you saying Alien wasn't damn good? empire strikes back? ESB is generally considered the best, but that's not to say that the other films weren't good (barring phantom menace). or just two of the harry potter films? the rest of them tend to be good films, but some of the ones you labelled as not good films were incorrect. this thread seems more about your tastes. just as you said inception was good, many people say that the plot was just overlapped/unnecessarily 'complicated'. fight club, although you may not like it, was quite as well set out film. and as other people have pointed out in things like transformers/avatar, if you're going to see those films for the story, you should look somewhere else. those films were for the effects/explosions. if michael bay wanted to create a brilliant original story, he wouldn't have taken the transformers legacy and made it into high action trilogy, would he? twilight films - i agree, the films were pretty bad overall. nothing compared to the books, as most book --> movie transformations are, however most learned people who know the books will tell you the movies were a disgrace. only the majority of 13-17 year old girls who have probably never picked up the books, will tell you the movies are amazing, and probably only because of the edward and jacob characters (forgot the actors names).
tl;dr i think you got the wrong end of the stick and it looks more like movies that you just didn't like and therefore couldn't realise that they weren't good films, regardless of whether it appealed to your personal tastes or not. 2nd edit - after looking at a few of your other forum posts - i have now, too late, come to the realisation that you're a troll. i guess theres just not as many people specifically looking for trolls in the Movies, TV and Entertainment forum. 7.5/10. |

COMPLETELY agree with you on Avatar.
After I saw it, I was like "BEST MOVIE EVER", but then I really began to think about the plot and the content, and I realized it wasn't good at all. |
A good movie, though the book was better.
Including the animated classic? Did you just lump Transformers: The Animated Movie in with Bayformers? You do NOT have the touch, nor do you have the power. |
agree w shawshank redemption. is supposed to be inspiring but feels like a drag to me. never said matrix was bad, It's one of my favorite movies (I didn't really care for the sequels though).
Nah I vaguely remember seeing it as a kid and I really liked it. 80s era cartoons were the end of an era and they don't make cartoons of that quality any more; animators have gotten lazy. Remember dungeons & dragons , duck tales, bucky o'hare, x-men and transformers ?
91% on rotten tomatoes. Won multiple awards everywhere. Saying it's bad = being racist in most circles.
why are they bad movies ? Never said that; both alien and aliens are good movies. Also about trilogies; I just picked the films I liked the most. I didn't say the other HP films were bad. The twilight books are good ????????? The books are actually targeted towards 13-17yr old girls too. @Fight club The movie is incredibly dull for the 1st 30 minutes. Most of the movie is extremely dark and nihilistic; promoting anarchy/terrorism/vandalism. Fight club is good only towards the end. I'd say the last 40 minutes of the movie is good. But then again the final ending is messy. Most people watched it as angsty teenages/very young men; so it's the ultimate "guy" movie for them. And it's "cool". Just go and re-watch it and you'll understand what I mean. |

you broke the first rule of fight club...
only watched the movie once, i judge it by the book not the movie.
i don't know why people complain about james cameron or michael bay movies. i always know exactly what i'm getting when i go see one. with james cameron it's always going to be beautiful panoramic scenery and some crappy plot proclaiming that humanity is shit. i check my brain in at the door and enjoy the scenery. with michael bay it's always going to be exploding explosions stuffed in explosions on sliced exploding bread with exploding sauce, served to my eyeballs by super-model waitresses exploding with cleavage. i check my brain in at the door and enjoy the explody-ness... what's to complain about there? it's not like i've been misled into believing there's some kind of decent plot... |
im not gonna lie the TWEEEEST at the end was entertaining; but then the very very end kinda fell flat. the whole project athena and recruitment was utter bull too. All I can say it I'm quite certain most people watched this film when they were very young; if you watch it again there's a good chance you won't like it now.
I try as far as I can to not initially make assumptions about what a movie will be like based on the director. Although what you say is true to a certain extent. I try to give each film a fair chance on that particular film's merits alone. Transformers had SO much potential; but it felt like the whole thing was wasted. |

transformers did indeed have loads and loads of potential, but when michael bay landed in the directors seat, it became a catalyst for pyrotechnics and little else, sadly |
