Predicting bosses for next expansions...
|
Based on the lore we know so far about the Pandaren and what has happened in all of these expansions released, who or what do you think will be the main, and partial antagonists in this new expansion? I had a discussion with my guildies about the lore last night, and we sort of debated which villains would be portrayed in the new expansion.
If we look back at all the warcraft (RTS) games, so far Blizz has managed to cover all the major villains portrayed in that series except a few characters we've all been waiting to see, like Sargeras, Queen Azshara, and Guldan. I like to go back and look at who the main antagonists and evildoers were in those games, and so far we've predicted and seen the obvious like Deathwing, Illidan, Arthas and Kil'Jaeden. I'm sure there are others that are lurking within the lore of Warcraft, but we've always seen the main antagonists from the Warcraft RTS games become the final bosses of WoW. My question to you is if you guys think Sargeras or the Queen will make an appearance this time? Obviously we cannot forget that there are certain characters who's lore has changed during the time of WoW that could come up again in new expansions, like Bolvar, Illidan, Sylvanas, and other minor characters as well, but what else can Blizz put in the game? Pretty much all bases have been covered if Blizz decides to go with Sargeras or Queen Azshara, but then what? |

The Mantid (evil mantis people), Mogu (ancient race that may have Titan origins), and the Sha (manifestations of dark chi) are all pretty much confirmed for first tier bosses.
An island was shown on the Pandaria map labeled with Zandalari, so Zul may show up, but that could end up a red herring. Azshara and pals could show up, but I don't think it's very likely. She'd be somewhat wasted as a mid-expansion tier villain. Plus I feel like the whole naga/kaldorei aesthetics would clash with the Pandaria setting. As a Big Bad I'd rather she sat on the bench until the game is ready to really zoom in on a big bad again. Other than that it's completely wild speculation. Personally I've been hoping for a Great Sea expansion focusing on Azshara. It'd mostly be tropical isles and bright, vibrant underwater areas - stepping away from the grim, dark tones in the game of late. I'd also heard rumors in the past of entire zones set in the past before the Sundering, which I think is a brilliant idea. But with the focus shifting onto the Fourth War I don't see how an Azshara based expansion could pan out. I think it'd be really cool if we had an expansion set entirely underground as well. It would focus on the Old Gods (primarily a new one, possibly under Khaz Modan, with those Shapeless Ones in the concept art as iconic minions). You'd see the true and horrifying scope of their forms stretching out across the entire world. We could revisit the beautiful Underdark feel of Azjol-Nerub, have a Journey to the Center of the Earth-esque subterranean Titan jungle, and all sorts of neat ideas. My only hesitation is that seeing more of the Old Gods, along with the notion of destroying their "roots," clashes with their Lovecraft vibe (I'm sure they can come up with a plot device to kill the Old Gods such as Azeroth isn't destroyed). |
Oh man... I mean, take Sylvannas. Garrosh is at least doing what he thinks is right for his people. At least she's actually being primed for the wood chipper. |

I think the following can be safe bets. Just need a Sha to possess them and exploit that negativity.
Sha-Garrosh Sha-Jaina(If what they hint in Tides of War is true) Sha-Sylvanas Sha-Varian |

I'm all for having faction leaders as the last boss.
But you do realize that would mean Blizzard would either need two separate cut scenes at the end....or have the two faction leaders fight side by side. Also, both faction leaders would have to be of the same class--like Varian and Garrosh. I don't think Blizzard wants to ditch Varian. They've been putting too much work into getting him up there. Garrosh I can see. Then again, I'd love to see Varian bite the dust because it would put Anduin in charge and his story would be all the better for it. But since Blizzard didn't have any plans for Anduin before Cataclysm, I doubt that will happen. They could just make Garrosh the last boss of the expansion and make both Horde and Alliance fight him. Give him some sha power and what not. The Alliance could be there, maybe even to have Varian or someone make a speech about how he's disgusted with the Horde and that this is what it comes to. Something with high drama between both factions would be nice. Something where their ideals clashed... |

Care Bears, Teletubbies and Barney. That's because you are just looking at Pandaren and think of an ordinary panda bear and going with an initial reaction that it's going to be bad without thinking. There is also a fine line between light-hearted and different style compared to childish. Your examples are not even comparable other than one example is a different variety of bear. http://i.imgur.com/xxgvg.png If you don't actually have any real criticism for what's in the expansion, why bother. |

We may even hold hands and have a sing along. friggin. In all seriousness though, Metzin said that the big bad in MoP will be War itself. Take that was you well. As for the Pandarian, we currently have: Cowmen, pigmen, bearmen, fishmen, frogmen, walrusmen, wolvarinemen, and hyenamen. Oh and wolfmen. Two of those are playable. How does having Pandamen make wow childish when we already have all of the above? |

You know, I never heard of the Sha before....what are they?

Do you have to be a friggin' butthead about this? Gawd.
Childish? On the forums? Such nonsense.
1). What's wrong with being childish? Learn to enjoy the simple things in life. Something I've noticed is more childish people tend to be happier than "mature" people. Just sayin'. 2). Dumb? MoP? I don't think you're thinking about it. I'm personally interested in seeing what comes from Panda's into the rp community. Also, this offers a way to advance the story with the Horde and Alliance, who will be focusing on eachother in this expansion. There are a LOT of possibilities that can come from this, I'm personally interested in what will happen between Sylvanas, Garrosh, and Vol'jin. Baine interacting with the panda emperor will actually be interesting as well. Also, one of the creators wanted panda's really bad. Just let him have this. p.s.
Aren't I the friggin' best? |

If Garrosh is the next big bad I will FLIP TABLES
Not because I'm in love with him, but because its too easy. Most whiny peace-lovers already dislike him, and blizzard is catering to them, but Garrosh loves the horde. As incompetent as he can be, he CARES. Hell, get people her respects, like Thrall and Saurfang back in to things to keep him from leaping without looking and he'll be one hell of a leader. Sylvanas could work, though she's also a little obvious at this point. I'd rather see some one we trust turn on us, and have some one we DON'T trust and dislike save the day. Like lets say in theory, Velen is still in contact with the burning legion. Horde has breached Stormwind and Velen goes for Varian, after summon a !@#$load of demons. Varian and he are getting ready to throw down, when of all people, Sylvanas pops Velen in the head. She realizes, (perhaps in a nice questline), that Ultimately Sargeras is to blame for her and her people's condition, and destroying him is far more important than andy petty conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. Garrosh orders the Horde to beat back the demons. Allies and Horde fight side by side. Casualties are high and Garrosh and Varian call it quits for the day. Alternatively, Horde could be beseiged, losing badly, (alliance-centered expansion). Velen turns on everyone, Offers Garrosh Demon blood. Garrosh is considering it, then Sylvanas shoots Velen, tells Garrosh not to beome the very thing he fought so hard against, (again she would have to have some chain of events that would create an inner conflict that she ultimately resolves in this scene). Garrosh kills Velen, fights along side Varian, same ending. Varian and Garrosh call a temporary truce. TLDR: When it comes to plot, either blizz flips tables or I will! Plot twists are what make good stories. GArrosh and Sylvanas are obvious choices. Using them is boring. |

Something tells me we may have a Legion boss/raid thrown in at some point. With Malganis or that Satyr guy from Hyjal.
Edit. I dont think we'll actually see Sargeras until a few more expansions but we may see an unformed avatar or here his voice or something, that is if there is a legion raid. As for Queen Snaky she may or may not make an appearence I'd say its about 50-50, I say this mostly cause it doesnt look like we'll be heading into the water again this expansion and I havnt seen much reason for her too come on land in Pandaria. However it is certainly possible considering we dont have all the info on the expansion yet. |
