Assisting Another Player In Combat
|
For example, I'm being triple-teamed, and a passing player hops off his/her mount and helps me make the kill and keeps my toon alive. I always appreciate this, and have a "Thanks" macro for it, but are there players who may resent being helped?
If it's me who is riding ny, I check the health of the player in trouble and then jump in if it's low. I then step back, wave and go on my way. When I first began playing WoW, I needed a lot of help, to the point of getting a friend to help me write a "Help" macro. I never mind helping, but just wasn't sure of the etiquette involved. Thanks! I'd be interested in this as well. I rarely need help anymore but am happy to assist others. But I have run into a few occasions where the helpee seemed unappreciative or even hostile in return. Is there an accepted etiquette? Why might someone respond so negatively to this?

I hate it when ppl help me on my dk if I start a fight i cant handle let me die. Its not fun for any1 to get double, triple teamed.

TB or World pvp Id fight 1v2/3 and Id win bout 90% of the time, even if they had a healer. Id have someone pass by sometimes and they'd keep goin and I'd be happy, but then I'd see someone stop and help, I hate it cause pvp to me is a thrill and the ppl on this server are def not a challenge so when I get a chance to get that challenge vs a few ppl at once Id expect no one to help me, even worse I tell that person, stop dont help and they keep helping...very irritating, Lately in Guru arena..(thats my new spot to vs more then one person now) ppl who help me also die and Ima happy camper =)

In my case, I dislike it when someone helps without looking at the situation first. I almost always run into the situation where I have someone at 20k hp or less, and then some random guy runs in and steals the kill claiming he helped me. I really don't see where one needs help in a fight that they are 1 cast from ending. I must stress, check the situation before jumping in.

Thanks for helping me understand this a little better! As a "continuous Noob", I try to be aware of situations like this and help where I can, but it's tough to tell sometimes.
One night, I got a bit overzealous with my skinning in TB, and took another guy's skin before he had a chance to get it himself. He called me on it, and I felt so bad I sent him a stack of my own! :) I would never steal someone's kill, and I do always check health, and if I do help, I step back or ride off. But I'm never sure if I've done the right thing in those cases. Thanks! Bill (and Wolkie) |
