I can't tell you how many variations of my characters I've run into over the years in Warcraft and Everquest. It's way cool, believe me.
I was in a PUG with my character "Bruenorr" and "Innovindil" was the group leader. She pm'd me: "Salvatore for the win!" I was tickled, so after a while of back and forth, I told her who I was. She started quizzing me, and when I told her that no, I hadn't been on this particular MUD she was naming (I've never played a MUD since ZORK), she accused me of being a fraud and had me booted from the group!
Go figure.

Also, the guy who killed Chewbacca. He does more than D&D books.
Some might have heard about the Kingdoms of Amalur game; he wrote the story.

If you have a 360, go play the demo. If not, is there a PC demo around? If so, play it!

Downloading the PC demo off of steam now. I love Salvatore and have many of his FR books. The last one I read was brilliant and I can't wait to see where this more "drowish" drizzt is going.

I really, really feel sorry for him. Like on the one hand you are a legend among the rabble of Fantasy fans, and to see your IP being used with such interest is probably one of the best compliments I can think of for any aspiring writer.

Sad that someone thought they knew more about the person than the person themselves though.

That is soooo funny lol. Can't say i don't take some satisfaction from it. Writers of crappy licensed fiction are some of the most useless people I can think of.

I'm looking at you too, Knaak.

Except that Salvatore is a legend, and Knaak is about on par with the book "Everybody Poops" for indepth story.

My friend linked me it on facebook so I might just do that. He said the only annoying part is when a guard catches you, they don't throw you in jail and you have to go around murdering everyone.

He wrote more than FR D&D books? What?

In all seriousness, what's there to discuss here?

Legend omg . U serious? Listen , man. I will admit I was once taken in by Salvatore's crap. I was in high school when the first Drizzt books came out and I read them and had the predictable OMG OMG OMG reaction a D&D nerd would have.

As I got older, I noticed I liked his work less and less, and also that it hadn't really changed since I had first read him. It's just that my crap detector gained experience as I got older.

In the VAST majority of cases, a writer playing around with fiction based in a licensed property is a desparate bottom-feeder relying on fanboys for his paycheck.

I'd love to do a back-and-forth on this, but I got LFR with the guild in 10 min. Peace.

I don't think "Crap Detectors" constitute as a very credible way of gauging if a writer is good or not.

But personal taste and all. You don't have to like him, but comparing him to Knaak is just wrong. Nobody deserves that.
