For a while I thought this might just be my own internet problems but three other of my roomies aren't having this issue and we use the same internet.
Anyway, my internet is a dorm's internet so it is definitely inconsistent. Most of the time I have my wireless and ethernet up at the same time. This hasn't caused problems before. In fact it makes it more secure. I also just updated my mac to OSX Snow Leopard and it is fully updated. After this, and I believe after 4.3.2, I've been having a strange lag problem. Usually it just happens when I step foot into Orgrimmar. What happens is my FPS dive bombs, but only for a few seconds before shooting back up. But this rinse washes and repeats in quick succession. So it's like this on my screen; SmooooothLAGSmooooothLAGSmooooothLAG. Sometimes this goes away when I leave Org but recently it's been sticking with me, and today I didn't even touch Org and it started to happen. I close everything down behind WoW as well and it still plagues me. Sometimes it even happens to normal computer functions outside of WoW while WoW is running. Typing in chat boxes, zoning, dungeoning, minimizing, etc. Usually closing out of WoW and restarting helps. But again, today it hasn't been so. I'm just about to perform a complete restart and see what happens. I'm not sure if this something the technical forumns can really solve for me since it sounds like a specific computer issue but something feels like it isn't just my inconsistent Internets. -Thanks! |

It seemed to help at first, then I was silly and went into the Scarlet Monastary Cathedral and attacked the boss. This of course caused everything in there to attack me all at once and my FPS was just fine. Figured it'd be a good test.
Until I went outside the main boss chamber and pulled a significantly less amount but still a handful of the human mobs. The FPS goes to the crapper the first time I cast Mind Sear and i had to completely restart again. Reloading my UI no longer works. This is a recent development I'd have to say. Considering I was healing Ultraxion with two other holy priests last night. What with all that holy word Sanctuary spam covering the ground, and everything else, I didn't have to restart once during those hours. |

Hi Mynolthas,
Can we try some basic troubleshooting and see if this resolves the issue? Repair Permissions via Disk Utility
2. Select the hard drive the game is installed on. 3. Select the First Aid option. 4. Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button. Reset the permissions on your World of Warcraft folder
2. Press Command + I 3. In the Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section and click on the lock and unlock it, entering your admin password when prompted. 4. Make sure you have Read & Write permissions 5. Click on the Burst icon (cog wheel) and select Apply to enclosed items Reset the temp files
2. Delete the Cache folder. 3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop. 4. Launch WoW. ________________________________________________ Mac Tech Support for Baaaaahlizzard Entertainment Not finding what you need here? It's been a few days since I've gone through with those suggestions and the strange lag problem still creeps up on me. Even when I'm not in Orgrimmar. I think those basic things helped a little bit but I did have to get all my addons back after doing the last suggestion.
Thank you for replying though, any other suggestions? |

Hi Mynolthas,
Try doing this to see if it helps. It may be due to issues with the Data/Cache. Reset the temp files (including Data/Cache) 1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft/ 2. Delete the Cache folder. 3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop. 4. Then go into the Data folder, and delete the Cache folder in there. 5. Launch the WoW Launcher. Let Non-Critical Updates apply and press Play when you see World of Warcraft is up to date. It's important to follow the instructions fully, as pressing PLAY before it's done can be counter productive. You already did a version similar to this, but this one involves an additional folder. ________________________________________________ Mac Tech Support for Baaaaahlizzard Entertainment Not finding what you need here? First off thank you so much for responding to my thread and trying to help me through this!
Anyway, I made sure to follow those instructions to a T but the issue is still there. Now I'm relatively sure it's either I have too many add-ons or it's just one of the add-ons that is causing this. I mean, when I get rid of/place them on the desktop the interface and cache folders that wipes the addons clean. So for the small amount of time I play without any add-ons I THINK the game is void of any lag issues. Again I can't afford to play too long without any add-ons because of raiding and such. But I suppose I'll just have to make time and go through each add on and discover which might be causing my problems, or just try to cut down on how many I have again. (In comparison to some people I know I really don't have that many.) It's still strange that my computer has previously been able to handle all my add-ons before and suddenly this happens-I've even cut down already. But as a last note I just upgraded to lion in hopes that the rumors about that solving FPS troubles were true, in my case it wasn't. Anyway I'm not sure if this will help but here's my specs again since i have a new processor. The blue post isn't going to fix your problem its a hardware issue with thermal heating.
Your system is 100% no question of a doubt throttling the cpu. Run bootcamp and wow, get CPU-Z or throttle stop to view cpu speed, you'll see 0.800-1.5ghz speeds on your cpu when gaming. Only fix is to !@#$% at apple when the 2012 units come out. |

If you are tech savvy, you can take the bottom plate off your MBP and have it on a non conductive surface; shoot the laptop cooler fan into the inside. don't do this if you are even remotely worried. It won't void your warranty unless you get water or physical dmg.
Might fix it, but not much of a 'laptop' anymore when you do that. Good luck, let me know how the cooler works for you. |
