Pretty sure that isn't it, since "Just hold in a breath" seems important, and it isn't a lore item :P

But any alchemist can use it, it can be traded/bought, any BC elixir is a possible buff, potions are small, and Spellpower Elixir and Elixir of Camouflage are possible buffs from it.

Technically, no one's gotten it yet, but someone was very, very, very close.

using demon minions could be considered "cheating"

I'm going to combine Theknigh's and Thilena's answer for Vials of Eternity, although I have no idea when they hid people.

Well, yes, technically, still no right answer. In fact, we are now getting colder.

Also, people are ignoring the second line.

I'm guessing the second line refers to someone who would want to shapeshift. I don't think there's a specific potion that does all that so just potions in general.

Alchemy is a profession and an art of sorts that, like any such profession, requires will and effort to become proficient at. Alchemy has been known to be responsible for bolstering otherwise less-than-talented magic users' prowess, which is an aspect of Warcraft lore that pops up on a regular basis (Arugal, etc.). Alchemical creations, including potions and elixirs, can have a variety of wondrous effects on the imbiber and mostly fit comfortably within the palm of one's hand.

Whether drinking a potion to increase an affinity for a certain skill or to fade from sight and become invisible, you still have to hold your breath, just as when drinking anything else.
