Hey great FAQ. a few things. It was decided to allow healium as it only acts as another set of action bars.
There was a queastion posted on the chat a few days ago. "What if another challenger is help the player?" I really didn't know what to say to the player that helped other then try not to. I posted it but I think an arguement got it over looked?
As for all add ons. There is no real way to tell if someone is or is not using any add on. So I say we make the rule of thumb no combat enhancing add ons and keep a list of any spefic ones that have been allowed in the threads up to now and moving forward.
Someone keeps asking about healbot. I have never used this one but I thought it has alerts and /or autocasting features? Anyone used it that knows more about it?

Well I think the gold thing is too much. It is possible to kill the peasentson the ground with no gear. pull carefull. As for the sword. I have done it with just using the sword and with only the starting green gear. I think it would be easier to let them use the start gear as that have not equiped it them selves anyway untill after they kill the chained guys, selling off after wards. Then farm gold and gear. I will personal try this way tuesday and let you know if it works good. I wouldn't go done into the village nude. FYI you have been warned.

so I say keep rule 1 as is, change 2 to sell sword after quest is complete to make the sword, and then using the green gear to complete the quest for killing the dude as you can not control what the game startes you toon with.
Also i think posting this on another thread would be better and having the link added to the rules for the DK opt in rules. i like the 1st rule cause it is how you get the dk unlock to begin with when i first started playing.
I meant with no weapon equip. I.E if they follow my suggested rules they wouldn't have the weapon as they would have to sell it. Equiping it is aggainst the rules. You can kill the villagers with no weapon on and no gear and they still drop items. but I have not yet killed a solder with no gear and no weapons?
You CANNOT compleate the starting zone without a weapon. You can do it without armour - but not a weapon. Most of the Dk's abilities rely on having a weapon - otherwise you'd have to sit there auto-attacking till you died. Since there are no weapon drops in the DK starting zone, unfortunatly it can't avoided - you need to use the starting sword. After the zone is over, you must sell it and pick up something else. It was the only way to make a challenge DK viable. You could also mail him white gear from your retired character, but you still can't get to a mailbox untill after the first dual.
Very nice FAQ! I would like to see the "current" ruleset posted here as well, since clicking through the 5-6 threads will prove challenging for the TLDR subset.
((On a side note, I did start a DK, and it is surprisingly challenging naked!))
((((edit : Ok, I wasn't trying to make this a DK thread but is is becoming one. - I rolled a DK. I mailed him the 30g needed to buy the white armor and sent a white 2H axe from stormwind. Using only white armor and a white axe, I am now 22 quests in. Very hard. Harder than playing a warlock without a pet I can assure you. I have come within 22hp of dying, and that just with the 'duel-your-fellow-DK' quest. I have serious doubts that this method will work for a starting DK at this point unless they grind a few levels here before finishing the area quest-wise. Sadly, this route is tempting considering the annoyance of rerolling.))
(((((edit - I'd like to see a seperate DK thread - segregating it from the the original IM challenge IMO)))))
(((((edit: I mailed him 30g because I was playing on a RP realm and I find nudity offensive. 30g isn't what this challenge is about, let's make that clear. Starting with the nice 60dps sword is more an issue - vendor weapons are half at best. I'm not, as usual trying to make any influence on "rules". Just my experiences.))))))

Drisia, yeah my plan is to copy and paste all the stories form the original threads over to that lore section provided on the new site to make the stories easier to follow. Unfortunately I have RL aggro(work), so I won't be able to get to it until Thurs., my next day off. I already have a list of names written down; all that's really left is all the copy/pasting, which will be the bulk of the work.
Ok, my takes.
Addons: I am like z/Kras; I myself have chosen to only use one addon: Auctionator. Although i would hate to give this one up, I think i would be in favor of making the rule "no addons allowed" if only to eliminate the gray area that would be created no matter how the rule was otherwise worded. To my knowledge there is no way to track one's use of addons, so obviously this would have to be an "honor system kind of thing." there's also probably no way to try to make a list of acceptable/not acceptable addon due to the sheer number of them available(although if someone is willing to take on this daunting task, more power to them; I have my hands already tied up in the lore transfer and that's enough for me lol). so I think a "no addons" rule would be best just for simplicity's sake.
DKs: I'm all for someone setting up some guidlines for a dk. I will refrain from the discussion of these though as I have no intent on trying one myself.
Kras, good job with this man!
cool. i already started a thread for this toon in the Lore section, so you won't need to worry about copy/pasting her post :)
I am one of those who has opted out of the challenge simply because I cannot live without my addons. Where you guys decide to go from here doesn't matter for me because I, pretty much, play a completely different game than many of you do.
I did have a suggestion though. Rather than trying to burn through all of the addons, why not simply "group" the addons. For example, take a few hours scouring through the addon groups already established on curse, wowmatrix, etc. Then decide which of those group systems fits best. Then you can post something like:
>>>Just an example, not setting rules<<<<
All action bar mods are OK, but limited to the maximum number of bars in the default UI.
All action bar mods must have functionality for cooldown notification and "spell flashing" disabled.
All bag mods are OK.
Curse addons in the group "auctions" are OK
Curse addons in the group "class" are not OK
Curse addons in the group "timers" are not OK
It may be a good starting point. It may be a waste of your time. I don't know how much your time is worth to you so...
While all of that is happening someone should probably be working on an Ironman addon package that meets the rules of the challenge. I don't speak code or I would.
Oh, for crying out loud!
Where were you when there WAS NO ACHIEVEMENT SYSTEM?
People played for fun, like they are now.
Yes. There was a time before the disaster called Wrath of the Lich King, when the game didn't have these things called "Achievements".
People did things for fun! Oh yes...FUN!
Instead of doing something for some 5 second flash on the screen, take a step out of your epic filled 85 world and do the challenge, YOU could just end up having fun.
Question: There's a quest in Westfall that requires you to zone into Deadmines and use an item. Is this permitted? I skipped it on my last character just in case (before her untimely demise to a lag spike/vulture/tornato combo), but I wasn't certain.
The quest I'm referring to is: http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26320/a-vision-of-the-past
Why is this with the Add-Ons SUCH an issue.
Fact: We cannot track addons being used.
Given that....why even bother debating on what is good and isn't?
Its pointless, and causes more stress in a challenge that is supposed to be fun and different.
Fact 2: Its YOUR Challenge. You are challenging yourself, given the rules provided. If you want to use a freakin Add-on, then do it. If somehow you PERSONALLY think its giving you an advantage, then perhaps you shouldn't use it. AGAIN...no one can see it, its like using a macro...no one can honestly tell.
I will admit now - I have one addon. MRP (My RolePlay) - so I can RP if I want to.
Do any of you see Janileth or Ironkilzi any different knowing that? NO? WOW!!! Why? Because it doesn't make any difference, and you couldn't see anyway (Unless you had MRP and hovered over my toon)
This Addon debate is essentially POINTLESS.
No one can see you using them, so WHY even bother?
We can't track them...as I have said multiple times now, and if you FEEL its cheating - then its YOUR decision to use them or not.
It is certainly no reason to NOT do the Challenge.
WHAT? Not doing it because you cannot use your addons? Really? Use them...who can see your PC to know?
The challenge is about ONE thing and ONE thing only. Fun.
Quit trying to make this complicated.
PS - I should probably take my own advice on this and leave the DK thing alone...lol >.<

I completely understand.
I understand that a mountain is being made from a molehill here.
You just MIRRORED my argument.
NO ONE CAN TRACK IT.
So its essentially a personal choice, and isn't in the scope of the rules - at all.
Nor should it be.
Ironbrit, you have been here a LONG time doing this Challenge. You know full well what is and isn't a challenge in your mind.
If you don't think Carbonite is something that will harm your challenge, then by all means use it. NO ONE CAN SEE IF YOU DO.
So, given that alone...the argument is pointless.
You don't need a "rule" for every possible outcome, because at some point common sense should dictate to you what is and isn't in the scope of the challenge to you.
I mean, honestly...is it possible to trick the Armory and do a quest or two in heirloom gear and get the extra 25-30% xp? Sure, no one could know if you did it fast enough, and the armory certainly wouldn't update. It comes to personal integrity and common sense.
The tracking from the site is only tracking visible things from the stats, but that doesn't mean you run out and xfer gold from one toon to another. Thats honor.
Addons are essentially the same thing.
You will never be called out on a rule if you use them, as NO ONE CAN SEE THE ONES YOU USE.
I am saying again, quit sweatting things like this. Its a NO issue.
NO addon will DQ you for using it. You will have to employ your own personal value to the things not tracked.
We DO NOT NEED TO BE TOLD EVERYTHING TO DO. We have brains, and common sense.
Follow your gut here. Don't rely on the rules to do more than what you agreed to.
Its that simple.
If you think it will DQ you, then you shouldn't use it. If you do - you are ONLY hurting your experience.
