How is Ravenholdt?
|
Yes, another prospective transfer.
I am just curious about Ravenholdt, so ~ How is the faction balance? How often do raids successfully kill an enemy faction's city leader? How are BG queues, and how often does each side win? Is there a good amount of world PvP? Are there a lot of dedicated PvPers? (Rated BGs, high ratings, etc.) |

I'll take the first crack at this.
PvE progress is usually a good gauge for the faction's population density; higher population leads to further PvE progression. Check the progression sticky from here.
I hear about a defense counter-raid to Horde's "For the Horde" about once a week. As to whether or not either side succeeds... well, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
Ever since all the realms got converged into a single battlegroup, the queue times and win ratios are the same everywhere.
It's there if you look for it.
Fewer now than in the previous expansions. |

Ravenholdt is a laid back server compared to others out there. Coming from a more active server, I enjoy the more relaxed life style here.
Now there are two important things you must understand if and when you come here, first the dwarven ale sucks and will give you dysentery. Second, Tauren are not cows and we taste bad. So don't look at us as your main dish for your guild's BBQ. Though I do hear that the ally have this new creature called the Worgan...if served with fried rice can be a nice dish. Over all, it’s an enjoyable server, but the only draw back to that of a large active server is the AH economy in certain specialized markets is slow. Goodluck on your decision. Bob. The Cow Goes Meow.... |

It's the end of an expansion cycle, so things are a bit more relaxed than usual. There isn't a whole lot of drama Ally side that I'm aware of (I'm currently on Ally) and there are guilds that will be happy to have some PvP-oriented people.
If you play Horde, check in-game with Lukar. He's my goto orc for finding out what's going on over there and a pretty helpful guy. I think, in general, we a little more friendly here and a bit less competitive that a lot of servers. Might try making a character and hanging out for a bit occasionally before you transfer, just to check out the waters. -- Durh |
Not sure I gave any indication that I feel that way. I don't really RP myself, but I am respectful of those who do. I am a total transmog nerd and figured an RPPvP would be a great place to see others' and show off my own, while waiting in PvP queues. Also I am alliance. And thanks to everyone else for the info. I'm still checking out Emerald Dream as well. Have any of you played there also? |

I played on ED for a couple of weeks a month or two ago.
Didn't care for it much - I did not find any RP worth mentioning and the atmosphere is somewhat different. Was not a happy place for me. Wound up deleting those characters forever. There were also other factors: I rerolled instead of xferred, so I had no money and no one to group with. The only guild recruiting lowbies had no RP and apparently all the officers knew each other and that was about it. No cooperation. Still, I believe some RHers have played there and still do play there, with fine results. YMMV. By comparison, on RH, after faction transferring, I was in a friendly guild within a day with plenty of offers to help me get levelled and geared and a lot of welfare checkups. Grouping is still a problem, even at 85, but it's better here, when it happens. If you decide to xfer here and go Alliance side, take your time getting to know people. Of the guilds here, Indelibles, Sentinels and Twilight Empire all have good reputations. Victoria vel Nex is doing good in progression, afaik. In groups, I have never had a Ravenholdter who was downright rude or mean on either faction (Trade is a different matter). In raiding - people tend to settle down and get down to business (such as it is). None of this answers your questions about RP, as such, but may give you one persons perspective, if that helps. |

Yeah I think Kiraleen's comment was a stern reminder that this IS an RP server.
Many people come here with the mistaken notion that an RP-PVP server means you can RP or PVP. Frankly you can do both those things on ANY server type. The difference being that game mechanics and server rulesets vary according to server type. With ALL RP servers, every player -- while not required to actively RP -- is required to understand and abide by the RP server rulesets and naming conventions. All of which is to say, that it sounds like you're on the right track by being a respectful non-RPer. So long as you don't name yourself something asinine, and aren't disruptive in public channels (/say, /shout and emote) you'll be golden. :) And Durh, thanks for the props. ;) <3 |

You're welcome to only PvP as long as you respect the RP that may go on around you. You're not obligated to participate, but you ARE obligated to understand and respect that roleplay here is to be preserved and respected.
Lately I've been thinking about things that tick me off, and really the only thing that comes to mind is RP griefing. I can't stand it. It's disrespectful, rude, and not funny at all, ever. Respect, respect, respect. |
