Answering Rogue PvP questions
|
To keep things simple, I am going to open a thread that I'll check and realistically answer any and all real rogue PvP questions.
A little about me, I have 3 rogues I play on, all with a bare minimum of 2200 in 3s. Two obtaining Gladiator experienced ratings. I highly prefer my KT (Kel'thuzad) rogue for the server. I can answer any questions regarding the rogue class in PvP from 1v1's to arena etc. Keep in mind some things may not always be exactly the same for you because of play style differences, however most of the content stays the same. Questions I get most often are, macros, tips, strategies for certain comps, all acceptable. Try to refrain from asking the same question multiple times, read earlier posts if you will. Trolls, I could care less about, if your not serious with questions you wont get a serious answer, I'm offering to help people who may want to improve their game outside of using other ways. Out |

Why does my screen say I must be behind my target 99% of the time?

Enchant your:
Cloak - Spell pen Chest - Resil or stats Bracer- agil Glove- agil Belt Buckle Pants - AP / Crit Boots - Agil Reforge all to crit once you get your basic 5% hit and 20/20 exp Change your gems to full agility gems For playing Hemo spec, remove the backstab glyph replace it with Evis or Slice N Dice Your missing alot of base Attack Power, / Agil, and crit with non itemized gear and your slightly outdated That will solve your damage problems if you are "pooling" your energy before you go for a shadow dance burst, aka having recup / SnD up and having 80+ energy waiting on a recup tick and dancing while the target is in a full kidney (5CP) preferably with no trinket so the must eat the full amount of damage (ambush spam) |
|
No question ideally is a dumb question, for your spec, generally you wont be using backstab hardly at all, maybe for rare times when you have the energy and want a small bit of extra damage to get a kill and are behind the target.
However, there always is the backstab spec, in which you use it for most of your damage outside shadowdance. |
|
It's quite late for some people on a workday that is most likely why.
For hemo spec you go Improved Recup and quickening and dont go Puncturing Wounds in the Assassination tree. Giving you more self healing and survival, as well as removing the positional requirement for backstab. You give up a slight bit more damage in the short run, for an ability that has a lower energy cost allowing you to get more combo points for more finishers such as slice and dice, recuperate, and kidney shot etc. Most high rated rogues play hemo spec for almost everything that doesnt require more burst, for example RMP (Rogue Mage Priest) where all the kills come from a quick bursty kill, (sometimes when you dont have shadow dance). However in most cases it is preference on what you like, and what works for you, high ping limits some people from playing backstab. |

I want to know about dueling feral druids once they go bear all hell breaks loose for me suddenly there at full health up from 10% and i'm not even hitting them to give them rage and i do shiv the rage then vanish.
I was wondering about cc's i get cc'd a lot When i face a comp like hunter rogue i get Scattered into a trap into a blind then into a sap and if i trinket and try to get a vanish they always for some reason can just hit me through the vanish and play rogue mage or rogue lock. And i was wondering if you could look at my armory and give me some instruction. Thanks man, Would really appreciate the help. :) |

lol I figured i would get a feral druid question at some point, good ole op bear form.
Other than just keeping shivs rolling to keep off his enrages, and when they go bear you need to watch for several cooldowns, including frenzied regen, savage defense or w/e that buff is called, bark skin, and i cant recall but their shield-wall like ability. Thats your key to shiv off enrage get crip on them with that, and run. Wait it out LoS if you have bleeds get a reset of the fight and go in. Its hard to beat a good feral 1v1, they just have wild damage, and just as good utility as us, a good feral will open, bleed and kite clone you rinse repeat so you have to get offensive fast, usaully not cloaking FF to get a vanish opener, but in some cases you can if you have the druid on the backfoot, other than that CR his berserk and trinket etc all his burst damage. If you know you cant go toe to toe with him, kite him up and wait for dance and burst in dance and so forth. Druids are by far one the hardest things to 1v1 as a rogue. CC honestly theres not alot you can do about it other than keep your awareness up and be able to manage, theres times where i can sit in so much CC its crazy, however, you can be vocal with a healer and get a dispel etc, however with the comps your playing, especially in twos its hard, you will have to rely on your partner to stop saps out of CC, and counter pressure or CC what they do to you. Hunter rogue can provide a deadly amount of CC that is a problem especially because its all instant, you have to only trinket when its dire, and watch for DR's and let your partner know you cant peel and to play defensive. Most things are situational you can try to LoS or range as much as you can, but sometimes with instant CC its impossible. Just have to adapt, with a lock he can play with an imp vs hunter teams to dispel traps loss of damage but keeps you moving or him. with vanish breaking, well its a known fact it happens to everyone sometimes its just unfortunate. For your current spec, change the backstab glyph as thats not a backstab spec that spec relys heavily on hemo damage. Reforge everything to crit once you have 5% hit, 20/20 exp, remove the agi crit gems and agi stam gems and go full agility, if you want you can put agi resil in your shoulders chest and boot slots to make those socket bonus's for a more defensive build but its not a requirement with the amount of resil you have already (when your fully geared using 2 pvp trinkets). Might want to invest in a second use trinket (ruthless pvp one) but that's player choice. Enchant your gear like mine is. spellpen back, chest to have resil or stats, agi on bracers, and gloves. Your transmog is silly :O thats all i see for now, I'll check back later on more sleep and see if I missed anything, and feel free to message me in game |

As for your second question, hemo for everything except rmp
More combo points, etc less energy requirement, just better. RMP just requires alot of burst, and set kills based on burst so backstab can be better for landing kill outside of dance. first part is a wall of text but i tried to get everything per player on one block of text :) anything else feel free to ask in game or on here |

Where can I find a PVP guild?

Cool thread, I'm a lowly player looking to improve. I'm relatively new after coming from a long stint (almost 3 years).
I was wondering (if you had the patience/time) could you do a rundown on strategies to cope with fights 1v1 Some things I think a lot of people would love to know would be: - A quick explanation of how to fight verse each class and spec (I don't actually expect you to rundown through every one, but I think it could be cool to help us crappier players out.) - How to kill healers - For the life of me I cannot seem to secure a kill on a competent healer with at least decent gear, even when using wound poison on MH - A few addon/macro's that could help us to improve our gameplay Just thought id sign off with a thanks for taking time out to improve the rogue community |

1v1 ret paladins.
Usually ends with them @ 10% also 2v2 Disc/rogue Vs. HPaladin/War Can only beat if I can distance the paladin from war and when the paladin comes, get a good vanish/sap to blind and MC... but its really hard to set one up with a good hpal/war team. Burns are impossible on maps like dalaran sewers and blades edge. P.S. I know I have BS glyph on instead of hemo... it's way more fun in BGs |
