How's SW:TOR going for you guys?

Edit: I've been living under a rock and hadn't even heard of Tera.

From their website:

No factions, aim-based combat, monsters whose models dynamically change consistently to indicate their vulnerability... oh, and high elves.

Seems interesting. These guys look to be trying to shake up the traditional MMO model. Maybe it'll work.

I was not as excited about Tera as Z was until I played the beta. I had to get some upgrades for SWTOR and even after that it still took a few patches before the combat felt right. But Tera...the first thing I noticed was how smooth the game played. It looks pretty polished as far as bugs ars concerned however we as testers are working out some kinks in some of the features and character creator we would like changed before launch.

Tera will have the most active Hunters in one game since WoW and we have a few inactives coming out of the wood work to play. Best part is that there are no factions. So its Hunters VS Everyone Else which is something we really like.


SWTOR is ok. It is basically Wow with a starwars setting. We pvped and cleared some content and are now a little bored. I'm just about Battlemaster now as I took my time leveling to enjoy the content and the only consistent WPVP is on illum and even there it sucks. Might as well be ganking here in WoW.

Tera will be where its at. Once I played it I don't know if I can enjoy any other mmo as much as I used to. I will most likely be cancelling all my other accts when Tera launches soon.

Yea I'm in the testing. Archaena, Jaela 22 Mystic adds me next cb if we're on the same server. i'm having total withdrawals from it lol it plays a lot faster than WoW, as in combat I mean.

So did they get all their legal issues settled in Korea? I thought there was a hold-up over them trying to pull a bunch of stolen stuff out of the game in order to be able to release it.

Hadn't Heard of Tera until recently when I worked with a guy who was playing beta. He was really enjoying it. I have to admit that the toons kind of creep me out. Though from what V was saying the gameplay is supposed to be quite good.

As far as swtor goes, I find it a bit disappointing. The class quests and storylines are what do it for me. The environment, UI, and gameplay not so much. Hoping to finish off my class quests then I'll probably shelf it. I don't have a lot of free time or cash right now to justify two subscriptions.

I have been following Guild Wars 2 and I'm thinking it looks promising.

The game itself looks stunning, although I have never been a huge fan of the JRPG character design they are going for where the women are sex dolls in bathing suits and the men are massively armored head to toe.

Back when QQ Island was around I was a Troll Hunter on Alexstrasza who would melee because I had Raptor Strike and my pet did all the damage anyways xD

I can't wait for the next weekend! Just over a week left~

And hopefully they give us more than one character slot per server this time.. :S I deleted and remade so many toons..

Anyway, my "main" testing toon is on Serpentis Isle (it was the only server available at the start, what with the random glitch thing) - an elin Berserker, Dichotomy. I will also be rolling on Arachnaea, though! Still have some classes I want to try out. And more exploring!

Good god, I think I took over 1000 screenshots...

It wasn't stolen, for one. The artists of Bluehole used their own material, but NCSoft got their panties in a bunch because Bluehole is made up of designers who quit NCSoft to work on their own project. It's really quite asinine. -_-

Anyway, it's an absolutely amazing game. To be honest, WoW just can't compare anymore, and I've had a terrible time motivating myself to do anything in this game aside from roleplay and mechanically go through my dailies ever since playing the beta.. :S Everyone should try it!

If anyone's interested and can't get into the closed betas (pre-order!!), there's an open beta scheduled for the end of April that anyone can participate in.

If I didn't know better, I'd personally believe that due to the extent of the crimes uncovered concerning Bluehole, that they wanted to get caught, or at the very least let have NCSoft know what happened to them. Through police investigations, over 4 pages worth of file names were found on Bluehole's computers or computers of Bluehole employees from Linage 3. Police interrogations got reluctant Bluehole employees to confess that work had been stolen from NCSoft's Lineage 3 game for use within TERA Online. It was also uncovered that Bluehole put together a task force designated to acquire as many files and data from NCSoft as possible.

The range of files stolen from Lineage 3 is staggering, ranging from art work and ideas all the way to the customized version of the Unreal 3 engine that NCSoft invested $5 million into for Linage 3. The combat and political system featured by TERA Online not only use the ideas created during the Linage 3 development but also use hefty amounts of stolen source code.

Sounds stolen to me.

As they're actually offering preorders on a physical box CE, I'd say that whatever legal junk is going on in the background isn't going to be prohibitive.

Whoah. Stealing a 5 million dollar engine is some serious business. If these charges go through, I wouldn't be surprised if Bluehole just gets shut down and some of its developers arrested.

EDIT: Yeah, sounds like Bluehole is screwed. From that same site-

So if Bluehole have done all this, why hasn’t the game been shut down? Korea’s legal system is of course different to the legal system within America or Europe. While the founders of Bluehole were given prison sentences and fines in a criminal hearing it is being appealed. A civil hearing against Bluehole has been appealed and is currently under another appeal. However as no verdict has been undisputed so far, the game has been allowed to continue due process. This is different from what might happen in America or Europe, where an injunction is likely to be placed before the product is launched and remain so until a verdict is given.

Bolded parts are important. This basically means that Tera will be able to ship until the legal hearings are over and decided, at which point NCSoft will get it. So, maybe Tera will still continue to be playable, except with NCSoft as the owner, but they may as well just scrap it before release.

Oh jeezus please no.

NCSoft is THE reason I quit Aion. They are an absolutely terrible company and I don't fault the devs at Bluehole for wanting to separate themselves from it.

I'm actually surprised at the amount of derision you guys are heaping on Bluehole here. o.O

TERA is a fantastic game that I already invested $60 into. It deserves 100% to continue on to release, and if it doesn't, the gaming world has lost a revolutionary contribution.

@.@ I just want my game to succeed and not be run by the worst MMO company ever (NCSoft).
