Ask the CDevs discussion

I was going through the thread and I saw several questions posted that I believe already had answers available. I was going to post them in that thread, but since our Story Forum Overlord requests otherwise, I have made this thread for it.
Original thread can be found here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4062877850 So here's what I've found so far in the thread: I'll ask what I always ask CDev: I think that is from the RPG, which is sadly non-canon now.
They're for one of the Darnassus Cooking Daily Quests.
There is one in Astranaar. She is just a scaled-down model of a night elf adult.
I believe you'll find the answer to that in the hardcover version of Curse of the Worgen (but not in the individual comic books).
I reviewed the moonwell quests (original and current) you're refering to and could find no mention of Darnassu's moonwell being the first. I think you have just misunderstood or misremembered the quest text.
He wasn't born yet? Will we ever find out how the Night Elves came about joining the Alliance? That doesn't answer the question. At the time they were allied with both the Alliance and the Horde, but they eventually sided with one over the other. We were never told why. |

You're right, it's not a cannon. It's a sword. It is, however, canon, because Kael'thas had it in Rise of the Lich King.I'll ask what I always ask CDev: |

I hadn't read up to Arthas yet. I'm glad to know it's in there because I liked that sword and was sad to see it lose its canon status.
Of course. I was creating this thread for the purpose of discussion. I'm sure Blizzard wouldn't waste all of our time answering them.
Mulgore was more or less the same as far as I can tell, but the Tauren didn't live there because it was inhabited by the Centaur who fought off their game and drove the Tauren out, forcing them to be a nomadic race. After the Horde helped them defeat the centaur, they moved back to Mulgore after many generations. Oh, and I take it there were less thorns originally. |
This is what I don't get. They're attacked by centaur in the barrens while -going- to Mulgore, but once theyre they act like everything's fine save the occasional raid and Harpy poaching. |

This is what I don't get. Mulgore is a secluded land. It was likely the Centaur just had too much of a stranglehold at the entrance, and the Tauren couldn't penetrate it without unifying. And they wouldn't unify without land to call their own. So, the Orcs helped them out. Now the centaur are hardly a threat. |

I took that to be more a matter of geography being somewhat inconsistent between WC3 and WoW (a lot of the maps don't agree with each other) plus Blizzard not creating separate tilesets for the area that would later be designated Mulgore. It still has some history worth exploring though. I think the tauren are the only race who we're not real clear on what things were like for them immediately prior to the Third War. |

Canon has 2 n's, not 3. 02/15/2012 12:04 PMPosted by Damiàn I think he means Broxigar? |

I'm glad to know it's in there because I liked that sword and was sad to see it lose its cannon status. Fixed! 02/15/2012 12:04 PMPosted by Damiàn Hmm, in that case it becomes a little more interesting. Rhonin and Kraasus are also missing, suggesting that when the Bronze Dragonflight takes Azeroth's heroes into the War of the Ancients, they were taken to the original conflict rather than the ones Rhonin, Krasus, and Broxxigar visited. That might also explain the difference in the size of the Well of Eternity. |

In my attempts to crossreference with the novel Id say that Rhonin and Krasus would have been on the dragons above the well as thats where they were fighting at the time. Brox would have already lept through the Portal so we wouldnt have seen him. Prior to that he was up on the Dragons too. |

I really don't appreciate all the loaded questions like "did you intend Cata to suck less than it did?"
Or questions you know they won't answer, like major plot points going into MoP. Meh. I saw the thread go up while on my lunch break at work, but I didn't have my authenticator with me. By the time I got home it was already at 44 pages, so it's hard to feel invested in this one. I just threw up a question about rock flayers if only for posterity. Had I gotten on a page people will actually vote on, I would've asked them to clarify N'Zoth's involvement in Cataclysm. Or more specifically, how involved each of the Old Gods were and to what extents. |
I don't think this is what they mean, they just wnat to find out what caused the gap between what they wanted us to see and like, and what we didn't see and didn't like, but got. |
Posted by Nemea Okay, that's an example of one, still the question can be applied, why do we see so few. All answers to that question that I've seen have been speculation from other players. |

Okay, that's an example of one, still the question can be applied, why do we see so few. All answers to that question that I've seen have been speculation from other players. Speculation isn't really necessary. There are no Night Elf children because Blizzard never got around to making a model for them. The only races with children's models are Humans, Draenei, Blood Elves and Orcs. As for Night Elf breeding practices? That is questionable. Immortality implies that they felt no need to hasten their reproduction, so I think it can be assumed that they kept breeding to a rarity. Also, there is another example: Unless I remember incorrectly, the Manga Winter Veil story written by Christie Golden had a picture of a Night Elf couple sending their child to bed. |

My own contribution:
Chris Metzen has stated he is done with Medivh's story because it ended well. Unfortunately he then went on to let the comic book writers put a "magical message" left by Medivh for his son in the comic.
The Night Elves were allies with the Pandaren before the Pandaren broke ties from the world and the Night Elves went on to cause the Sundering. It would make sense for them to share some cultural influences. Though the thematic reason Night Elves have some Japanese stylings in their architecture is simply because that was how Blizzard's artists wanted to do it.
In Blizzard's eyes Warlock heroes tend to be villains. Eredar like Archimond and Kil'Jaedan, Illidan, and Gul'dan are all considered warlock heroes because they all use Fel magic. By and large warlocks tend to be shunned in most societies. So it would be problematic for one to step up to get recognition.
Presumably those are the things Deathwing took when he attacked Stormwind and Orgrimmar. |

I'm more concerned about the body. Was it not destroyed? Skinned for armor or clothing? Wildlife came and eat it? This goes for both of them. Hell, Nefarian especially because I'm sure the Blackrocks would have done something like that. |
