Sequels YOU Want to See Made
|
Topic title says it all. What are some sequels to certain games that you would like to see made?
I COULD say Mega Man Legends 3, but I've already made an entire topic devoted to helping get Mega Man the respect he deserves. So instead, I'ma say Super Mario RPG 2. Not Paper Mario, but Super Mario RPG 2. Nothing against Paper Mario though; it's pretty damn fun too. With Square and Nintendo being all buddy buddy as of late, I'd LOVE to see this happen. Have all of the characters from the original return, Geno included, but obviously have new characters and new party members. I could envision, as party members, Mario, Geno (in some incarnation or another), Donkey Kong (or Diddy), someone connected to Mallow, Princess Peach, Bowser Jr., and, perhaps as a secret character, Sonic the Hedgehog (or maybe as a secret boss). As for who you'd be up against... obviously, it'd have to be related to Smithy. Metal Mario, perhaps? But that's what I'd like to see. How's about you? |

Third installment of the Chrono series. And maybe a proper Xenogears sequel, not that godawful Xenosaga garbage.

I'd love to see sequels to Final Fantasy VI and VII.
Actual games, not the CG 'movie' that FFVII got. |

Thief 4, but that's apparently actually happening.
Setting aside obvious choices like "More Megaten/Dept Heaven/Arkham <insert locale>/etc." which are pretty much guaranteed to get made... Lots of competition for the top of the list, but numero uno would probably have to be a real Star Control 3. Reading interviews with the guys at Toys for Bob basically just leaves you starving for more information about all these unresolved plot threads from the second game that were just kinda-sorta resolved/handwaved in Legend's SC3. Plus, it might (might might) have a shot at actually happening, assuming Activision can ever entice Atari to hand over the license (hey, it's not like they're actually using it for anything...) Other series that just sort of died in midstride would all be welcome candidates for sequels, too. - Freespace - Freedom Force - Legacy of Kain (although the "mid-stride" part is debatable) |
I want a sequel to Chrono Trigger. Seek help immediately. |

I want a sequel to Chrono Trigger. Yes, how dare you diss on one of the best RPGs ever made. As for my list... -Lunar 3 -Another 2D Metroid style Castlevania, possibly on a console this time. -Speaking of Metroid, Metroid 5 would be a good sight to redeem the series from what Other M did. -Super Mario RPG: Although this would be a bit tough as any mechanics SMRPG had, I think Paper Mario did better. It would be nice to see more of Geno though. -Although it is incredibly unlikely to happen, a Metroid Prime 4 would brighten up my year quite a bit. I think I liked the Prime series even more than the original. Dark Samus is one of my all time favorite villains. -A new installment to the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series would be great, although I'm sure it's only a matter of time. -Baten Kaitos 2: We got a prequel, but how about one set in the future? There are plenty more, but this list would go on and on. |

I want to see a TimeSplitters 4. There have only been rumors so far, but I'm not sure whether it will actually be made. I love that game.

TIE Fighter 2
Grim Fandango 2 If either of those happened I could die happy. |

Darkstalkers 4
At this past ComiCon Capcom had a big sign at their booth that read "Darkstalkers are not Dead." But an official came out shortly after and said that it wasn't confirmation on a new game (quite the PR Capcom has). But things may be looking up. Ono said in a recent interview that a number of developers want to just go ahead and start development on a "Super Street Fighter x Tekken," but he, personally, wants to move on to something else. He specifically mentioned the possibility of either a Street Fighter 5 or a Darkstalkers 4. Ono has said before that a fourth Darkstalkers has been his dream project for a while, so there's also that. Honestly, Street Fighter has made it's comeback. Super Street Fighter 4 is still a popular pick at tournaments, and I don't see any reason to make a fifth installment right now. |

I want a sequel to Chrono Trigger. Flame ON! Anyway, I would love to see the remaining Shenmue games get made. Aside from the last chapter of Shenmue 2 (which I think was actually part 4), it was some of the best gaming ever done before. It was the beginning of the "open" RPG genre that we now see in games like Elder Scrolls and the voice acting in the Japanese versions was fantastic. Of course I'll also give my standard "Road Rash!!!!!!!1" response as well. Edit: And Strider. I still play the original on an emulator from time to time and daydream about what a next-gen sequel would look like. |
I want a sequel to Chrono Trigger. I gotta agree with the seek help immediately comment. While I DO agree that Chrono Cross wasn't the best sequel in the world, it WAS a great game in it's own right. If I could change one thing about it, I'd have ditched the Suikoden style of character acquisition because a lot of them just didn't have any sort of real impact to the story whatsoever. They were just "there." At least with Suikoden each character you can get has their own reasons for joining your war effort and you can feel for them. |
