Moonkin is so horrible
|
|
I've been back on this worthless toon in bg's trying to get some honor feral gear. I just don't understand why this one spec is so freaking horrible to play. I see some characters be able to survive a full on assault from several opposing team members, but a moonkin dies almost instantly with absolutely no defense at all. When I'm allowed to free cast I can barely dent an enemy's health bar. What am I missing here? I have 4.2 res atm, and still get 45k to 50 crits on me. I can barely manage 25k crit on a pve geared player with a three second casted spell. I hope feral is better, I'm almost there...

Feral is better, but I find boomkin a lot more fun

thank you for that wonderful response Ayasel, now what does that mean?

And how do you find balance more fun? All I seem to do is get devastated anymore. Heals are slow and land for almost nothing, most of the time they are interrupted. Cyclone is almost always stopped, so there's no real cc to count on. All of a balance druid's spells would be fun if they weren't nerfed right after they came out. I've !@#$%ed (is that an ok word to say?) about that for a year and nothing is ever done. Seriously, what gives with this spec? My warrior is nearly as worthless, but still has many abilities to survive. I thought this toon was a druid. I remember when the used to be able to get away from anything.

Find a pocket healer and in random bgs you should have no problem going 14+ killing blows with 0 deaths. In RBGs you should be fine as well if you play right(though this may have changed since I last did competitive PvP). The only thing that we really can't do is Arena. Honestly Balance requires a hell of a lot more work to be average in PvP, but it is at least viable provided you put that work in.

Feral druid has amazing survivability, burst, and instant cyclone is absolutely vicious. I enjoy Boomkin in Bg's as long as no one touches me... which is pretty hard because once a moonk is spotted, they are almost always instantly targeted due to their horrible lack of survivability and because it just feels satisfying to punk on a chicken.
The fun with a boomkin comes when you effectively play as a background support character. The primary way you're going to do damage is with your Insect Swarm, Moon/Sunfire, and Starfall...often times you won't have the time to continuously cast wrath/starfire, so moonfire spam across different targets will help move the solar bar. As a boomkin, getting top kills isn't too hard due to stealing kills with your dots. A boomkin's life in PvP is an uphill battle and is only recommended for those who enjoy a challenge. If you just want to smash face and tank multiple enemies at once, feral will do the job. |

Thanks Tagartou and Eastersunday for the input. I'm thinking the smash face thing is what I'm looking for. I can't wait to try out feral. I've actually played this character as balance for years, and never tried feral out.

You my friend are in for a treat. For a quick start on reforging, priorities, glyphs and trees, check out this site. Has a little something for every class for both PvE and PvP. :) http://www.noxxic.com/ |

For regular bg's, I like to screw around with a premade of 3-4 people. I have a very hard time on my own, but with like 2 people peeling or healing me, BGs can be really enjoyable... like this one http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/2281/wowscrnshot021812052334.jpg :D

Whenever I see a Boomkin in pvp I think free kill =D. Balance druids are fun in PvE tho.

What that fack happened in that WSG lol. Only time I've gotten a score that high was as a twink'd 14 hunter haha. |

Boooooo! Get a more challenging battlegroup, ya scrub! Triple Wrecking Ball (x3) or go home! (Holy !@#$ that graveyard farm must have sucked for Horde.) |

Random bgs are a blast. Run with a pack, multi dot, evade if you're targetted. It's pretty easy and a lot of fun. CC healers with cyclone and moonbeam. If played right you'll be top 3 in damage. I tried feral last season for randoms, I didn't enjoy it as much tbh.

you have no gems, no enchants and a 378 weapon, 2 empty prime glyph slots. try working on that stuff and try agaon. yes arena will be annoying as hell when a melee sits on you, but you can own up bgs and do well in the right rbg setting lock/moonkin/r shammy is a good 3's comp |

Moonkins at this time take a high-skill cap (along with Resto). Which i enjoy it and hope that it's skill cap does stay high so you don't see Moonkins running around, like Frost Dks/Mages.
