I invited a friend into WoW, he made an account and I'm partying with him as I type this. Why is his account not linked?

Odds are good your friend created a normal trial account and is logging into that one. Can you give me the name and realm of a character on his account? I assume you recruited him from the account you are posting on?

Did your friend create their Starter Edition account using the link in the referral e-mail?

If not, a quick call to Billing should be able to sort it out - they can retroactively link the accounts.

If you two aren't receiving the triple experience and other in-game perks, then it sounds like something went wrong during the invitation process. One of the most common problems players run into is using a game upgrade to create a brand new World of Warcraft license rather than upgrading the one created through the Recruit-A-Friend promotion.

Have your friend log into his Battle.net Account Management page and check to see if he has two World of Warcraft licenses listed under "Your Game Accounts."

I believe Shandiee is correct here. I was able to find the account you recruited and it seems that your friend has two accounts on his Battle.net account. These are labeled WOW1 and WOW2.

It looks like WOW1 was created a week or so back and is the one your friend is currently playing on. WOW2 is the account created with the Recruit a Friend trial.

Luckily, it looks like your friend hasn't upgraded his account yet so he should just need to stop playing on WOW1 and create a character on WOW2 to play with you. That is the account that is linked to yours so you'll start getting the triple experience bonus on that account.

He can have the extra trial account removed by contacting our In-Game Support staff via in-game petition or support site ticket.

Or by contacting our Billing and Account Service department directly.

So do you have to use the WOW 2 one? Or is it possible to upgrade the WOW 1 and still get triple experience and the other perks with your friend? I was just wondering because I have several characters already on my WOW 1 account that I don't want to have to abandon because I've worked hard on their gear already.
Thanks! :)

RAF benefits will only apply on the license that is linked through the RAF invitation - it doesn't apply to any other WoW license on the Battle.net.

A single Battle.net account can hold up to eight WoW licenses.
