I was playing this character and WOW crashed. I submitted a crash report. However, ever since then I have been unable to log in to this character (Cinistra on Earthen Ring). I can log in with other characters on this server and other servers without an problem.
I opened Console Monitor to record what happens when I try to log in with Cinistra. I get an Exception Raised error and WOW just freezes up. Below is the Console Log, perhaps it can shed some light. Oh by the way, before recording this I ran the World of Warcraft Repair.app and I deleted the Cache Folder. I only get this crash on this one character. 2/17/12 11:33:36 PM World of Warcraft[283] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x1640050 of class NSCFData autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking

Let us know if this helped. If not post back, and we'll see what else we can try.

I am still getting an Exception Raise, error EXC_I386_DIV when I attempt to log in with this character. I can log in fine on other characters. I have taken the following steps:
1. Deleted the Blizzard folder found under Mac HD/Users/Shared/ ; and the Interface, Cache & WTF folders from /Applications/Games/World of Warcraft/. 2. Ran Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions. 3. Ran Disk Utility to Verify Disk (got message that the Volume appears to be OK). 4. Went to Mac HD/Applications folder and moved World of Warcraft to the Trash 5. Went to Mac HD/Users/Shared folder and move the Blizzard folder to the Trash 6. Went Mac HD/Users/your account/Library/Preferences and delete any files associated with WOW: com.blizzard.xxxx (where xxxx was anything, multiple files) 7. Empted Trash. 8. Reinstalled WoW from https://us.battle.net/account/management/download/ 9. Started WOW from Launcher Agent. When I select the character Cinistra I get the error: ========================================================= Exception Raised! I appreciate your offer to help Bluspacecow. BTW, I did not know the reports were saved in the wow folder. I'd been saving them in a textedit file. So I have learned something new today.
Here is the latest report: Project: 1010

Hmm
The crash is a divide by zero error yet doesn't seem to be caused by addons like I thought it would be - the Lua memory is 13 MB which is around what the default UI should be at plus you said you had dragged the WTF and Interface folders to the desktop. When you upgraded to 10.6.8 did you use the combo updater or software update ? 0x16485000 - 0x16488FFF "com.divx.divxtoolkit" (1.0) <00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000> "/Library/Frameworks/DivX Toolkit.framework/Versions/A/DivX Toolkit" This is about the only thing that comes to mind. Try going to Mac HD -> Library -> Quicktime and dragging the "DivX Decoder.component" file out of that folder. If it requires you to copy it to desktop do so then go back and delete it. If it crashes again after uninstalling that then post the crash report from that crash. ________________________________________________ Bringing you walls of text and cookies since 2005 :) Mac Tech Support MVP (moonlights in other forums) Here to Help :) |

I am not a big expert on the crash reports but i think it looks like you have bad memory !

I checked my Installed Software and it show that when I upgraded to 10.6.8 I used Software Updater on 7/29/11 it used Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update, version 1.0.
I went ahead and deleted the "DivX Decoder.component" file from the Mac HD -> Library -> Quicktime folder. Still getting a crash, the error report is below: Project: 1010

Old busted version of the update. Grab this one : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US If it say's the page is invalid just reload the page. Known bug with the apple website that. Download and install the system update above. As always with any system upgrade make sure to make appropriate backups first before applying the update. ________________________________________________ Bringing you walls of text and cookies since 2005 :) Mac Tech Support MVP (moonlights in other forums) Here to Help :) |

Will try this in a day or two. My only working external hard drive is smaller than my internal hard drive, so I need to get another to do a proper backup. Once I have a good backup I'll try 10.6.8 Combo updater that you linked.

Got a full backup. Went to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US and download and installed the Mac OS X Update Combined. Went to WoW folder and moved Interface and WTF folders to the desktop (this is because I played fine on another character last night). Then I logged into WoW using the Launcher (I waited for all non-critcal updates to apply), when I try to get into the game on Cinistra I got error pasted below, I looks the same to me but I have no idea what I am looking at or where in it a clue might be found.

You by chance using any USB headphones or mic? or any other external sound hardware of any kind?

I have some speakers plugged into a port in the back of the computer, it's not a USB port though.
Also occasionally I use a USB headset, but that has not been plugged in since last Saturday when I did a DS raid. I unplugged it then when attempting to solve the problem. I also unplugged the wireless mouse and went back to the original equiptment Apple mouse for a couple attempts, but I went back to the wireless mouse. |

Can you give me a break down of your sound options in game? is hardware sound enabled or disabled? what is sound quality set to, etc.
basically, from what i've been told, that crash is a crash in sound engine/driver. which narrows our search on finding the cause. |

This is becoming a real Sherlock Holmes mystery. Anyway, my regular WoW Sound Options are set as follows:
Enable Sound - checked Playback Sound Effects - checked Error Speech - unchecked Emote Sounds - checked Enable Pet Sound - unchecked Music - checked Loop Music - checked Ambient Sounds - checked Sound in Background - checked Enable Reverb - unchecked Headphone Mode - unchecked Death Knight Voices - unchecked Sound Quality - slider is in the middle Hardward GameSound Output - Built-in Line Output Sound Channels - High (64) Use Hardward - unchecked Volume Master Volume - 21% Sound slider about 30% Music slider about 25% Ambience slider about 25% When I drag the Interface and WTF folders to the desktop, then my WoW Sound Options are set as follows: Enable Sound - checked Playback Sound Effects - checked Error Speech - checked Emote Sounds - checked Enable Pet Sound -checked Music - checked Loop Music - unchecked Ambient Sounds - checked Sound in Background - checked Enable Reverb - unchecked Headphone Mode - unchecked Death Knight Voices - checked Sound Quality - slider is in the middle Hardward GameSound Output - System Default Sound Channels - Low (24) Use Hardward - unchecked Volume Master Volume - 100% Sound slider about 100% Music slider about 30% Ambience slider about 55% |

at this point just experiment with turning stuff off in sound options til crash stops. beyond that, will have to wait for the devs to get more in depth with this crash report.
|

The first thing I tried was do disable all sound. I was able to log in to Cinistra without a problem. I moved the character to another zone and then enabled sound and experienced no problem. I then exited WOW, restored my old Interface and WTF folders and logged back in.
I was able to enter the game on a variety of characters. It appears that the problem just went away. I can not duplicate it at this time. Many thanks to all who contributed to this thread. The cause is a mystery, I hope it can be deduced from one or more the the crash reports in this thread. |

go back to the zone that gave issues, turn sound back on and login. it'd be nice to figure out what sound option it was :)
but in any case, hopefully your situation helps devs out |
