Easy solo to 85?
|
I am going to re-roll on a pve server and do 1-85 solo. Kind of like Iron Man but not really. The random dungeon/raid/battleground pugs with our community being what it is just kills the enjoyment of the game for me. That and having the added temptation to get bags, crafting materials or to do a quick guild run for whatever reason is something I would rather do without. Before I begin I have two questions that some of you might be able to help me answer.
1 -What class would be best suited to do this? I know all classes (played well) can do this with relative ease but I also want to go back and do all of the dungeons I will be skipping when the level discrepancy makes them doable solo. So for that reason I want to play a class that would excel at that. 2 -I want to pick a gather-production profession combo that will most benefit this style of play. Money isn't something I'm overly concerned about since I won't be scrambling for enchants, gems, etc to make myself competitive for raids/battlegrounds. I'm thinking of general utility to further ease/enhance the experience. Thanks for your consideration. Good Hunting! |

Yeah, I would go Hunter, with Skinning/Leatherworking for professions.
Good luck to you!! |

Neither of those are particularly grouping/guild specific needs. Having good bags in particular makes solo play much easier. If we are talking specifically about solo levelling and you don't have an 85 to fund the toon, I would still recommend two gathering profs to level cap. Crafting professions do you almost no good while levelling if you will be gathering all the mats to level them. Gathering and selling on on the AH will be way more helpful -- gold is much more helpful while levelling than crafted items of any kind. Which two gathering profs doesn't matter really. Skinning/mining has been doing my solo hunter quite well. Skinning in particular is quite lucrative on many servers I play on. As mentioned, BM Hunter or Pally would be good choices, but really any class can do it effectively if you take your time and learn how to play. I would probably add Rogue (any spec, but I still prefer Combat for solo levelling) or Druid if you can stand playing one. They bore me to death, but lotsa folks like em. Stealth works wonders when soloing and both those classes have effective self heals and get out of jail free cards (Vanish, Bear form, sprints, etc). |

Look, hunter is the best for this sort of thing simply because you can multi-tank (if you're good with your pet) and you have a speed up ability, aspect of the cheetah.
Your second best bet is Pally, especially prot, because as a tank, you can easily get into dungeon groups for getting to that one extra level and can also very easily multi-tank. A tip I've found is not to do hard quests. Actually, quests about 1 or 2 levels below you are best because they still give high exp rewards but are much easier to complete. This will make sure you level up super quickly. |
Millions of people have done this, and can be found doing it even today. It's not hard at all unless you're really social (but RealID can alleviate any loneliness you might feel). There's no need to stick with green quests either, level-appropriate quests were designed to be doable; in fact, most of the gameplay has been revamped to accommodate casual players who run around by themselves. When you reach a "hard" old world quest that pits you against some giant elite, you're always given something or someone to help beat them, while most Outland and Northrend "bosses" have been nerfed quite a bit. As far as soloing dungeons later on, I agree with hunter/pally/druid as being good choices, since they all have ways to mimic a dungeon group. Warrior would probably work fine too, and warlock if you can play one well; I've done a couple BC heroics on an arcane mage, and between the abilities and the nerfs, it wasn't very hard at all.
QFT, especially since even more junk accumulates when you're by yourself.
OP isn't doing dungeon groups. |

Any Class/spec can solo quest 1-85. Just pick something you enjoy. The only thing is that you'd have a harder time leveling if you pick a healing spec.

The title of the thread is a bit misleading. They more want a class that can solo dungeons. While any class and spec can do this you won't have quite the level gap with Tank Specs as with others. |

I wouldn't take leather working as a hunter because you'll be switching armor types at level 40 and the stuff you make will be of little or no use to you after that, but if you make a druid doing leather would be fine. Tailoring is good because you'll make your own bags and get a cool mount out of it.

Leatherworking has more than a few mail patterns. http://www.wowhead.com/items=4.3?filter=cr=86%3Bcrs=8%3Bcrv=0#0+3+1 |

I'm not saying it dosn't, I'm saying I found it unsatisfactory. For "easy" soloing some people might not want to invest the effort or time when there are other options available. This is just my personal experience, itr might be different for others. |
|
|
This is really only true with Blood DKs. After Blood DKs, BM Hunters with Turtle pets have the easiest time soloing content. |
Yeah that's not even close to true. Shaman and Hunters both can make use of LW because they have many many many mail patterns. |
|
|
You said LW would have little to no use after 40 which is just plain false as I pointed out with my link. Also, being able to craft your own armor would be a lot more useful than being able to craft your own bags. |

Advertising is not allowed on this forum and paying for a leveling guide is a waste of money.

I think you were just sniped by the mods themselves O.o More on topic, saying that leatherworking is useless to mail-wearers past level 40 is ignorant. Who do you think crafts the mail gear at end-game? Right, leatherworkers. Tailoring does cloth. Leatherworking does leather/mail. Blacksmithing does plate. |

I never told anyone what to do, I said what I wouldn't do and what I found unsatisfactory, and I said it may be different for other players.

It's more than close to true, friend. It's exactly true...you didn't include the "I" in my statement. = ) |

That wasn't me. |
