Hi,

I have never had any graphics problems, until a few days ago when randomly graphics in the distance started being very unsmoothed, they are very coarse and edged, i have updated my graphics card, and i was looking all online for a solution.

I saw people doing the

/console gxcolorbits 24
/console gxdepthbits 24
/console gxrestart

I did that it seemed a bit better, but it is still there. I have been running everything on ultra and had no problems till a few nights ago, resinstalled wow and everything.

Here is my confix file i have seen many other peoples configs and mine looks very short so I'm wondering if lines are missing out of it to create this problem maybe?

I know that it may be hard to see in that photo but, it is there at a distance graphics are getting very rigid.

Just a tidbit here...download the latest updates for Windows. This may not help your problem, but you should be on SP1.

Could you run hwmonitor while the game is in progress and post the results?

My friend talked to me earlier, my graphics card has been running at almost 90 degrees Celsius for a long while and I think it has actually caused damage to the card and I have to replace it. I failed to keep maintence on my computer and did not clean it once in the last 3 years. So the graphics card I think is almost cooked, because it has been cooking itself.

90ºc is within operating spec for a Radeon 4870. In fact, they don't even spool their fan up completely until beyond that point.

A better screenshot would really be helpful. About the only thing that I can see which comes close to your description is the leaves on the trees, but that's to be expected. By default, WoW only runs MSAA (Mult-Sample Anti-Aliasing). This only affects the edges of polygons, while doing nothing at all for the textures on them (including transparent textures, such as what's commonly used for leaves).

Are you running in DirectX9 or DirectX11?
