How would you integrate the High Elves into the Alliance as a playable race?
|

|
As a foodstuff, primarily.

Not sure. Some of the mage trainers in Darnassus are Highbourne, and I guess that's kind of related to High Elves.

A skin option for Night Elves, with some handwavey bull!@#$ in the first couple of quests, probably.
But if I had the choice I wouldn't implement them at all. |

If you wouldn't than please don't post in this Topic. This is if you were told to put them in how would you not "I wouldn't", okay?

Though Id personally dont think its really doing the Alliance any favors adding High Elves Id probably do it by having the Silver Covernant rally around a location probably near Stormwind and offically become part of the Alliance.
Id sort of set them up as a goverment in exile type thing. Their goals would be to preserve their heritage and culture without, in there eyes, surrendering their values or abandoning their allies. The problem is the Alliance already has one group of Elves. Two races of elves sort of makes it crowded. Keeping them clearly defined as two seperate groups would take a fair bit of work because although they are different, many of their themes overlap (even more so now that their are Highborne in the NEs). Id also try and biuld a rivalry between the NEs and the HEs. I dont think it would fit for the two groups to suddenly be all friendly considering how much they have clashed culturally in the past. |

I wouldn't, but in the interests of constructive posts to the topic...
They start in the human zone, follow alongside the human progression line, and have -no- leader or quests or anything unique to them whatsoever. The number of high elves in the Alliance is small and, as such, aside from players, very few should be visible as NPCs. At -most- I'd add maybe -1- High Elf Priest in the Cathedral, and -possibly- one as a Tactician in Stormwind Keep, both of whom do not have quests or even interactive dialogue (and aren't even elites). When you click on them, they don't even have sound files, preferring to stay quiet. I'm not completely against playable high elves in the Alliance, I just feel they shouldn't have -any- bearing on the story at all. I feel much the same about Ogres in the Horde. Some races should have prominence and strong leaders, and others should just be there because its the faction they chose; they have no leaders, no lands, etc... |

As a subsection of the Stormwind faction, and sharing the human start zone.
|
|
As a separate skin for Humans, with no other differences whatsoever, to symbolize how bland and uninteresting they are as a concept and race.
Or this. But ideally, not at all. |
|
Paid Race.
They get the human bonuses and classes, except for Warlock. Then start in the human starting zone. You have to pay to get it though, it's mostly a new art assets for the human and like other art assets(Mounts) you have to pay for the extra ones. |

I think High Elves should get Warlock if they ever become playable because there already ARE High Elf Warlocks that exist. (As class trainers, mind you.) |

That's if they don't pull them back into being a cohesive race with their bethren as Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher envisions. Hopefully we have some questions on that in the massive CDev3 mess.
High Elves would probably end up making the majority of the Farstriders and the Blood Elves would be Magisters (and secretly warlocks) Paladins/Blood Knights would be a split. I'm sure the High Elves would enjoy messing with Holy Magic. The cultural hierarchy would be tricky but could make Silvermoon a lot more interesting to visit than it is now. |

Shared starting zone with humans, some racials (magic absorption shield, inscription bonus etc), same classes as blood elves minus warlock, and maybe just one specific high elf quest to meet Veressa, the racial leader, in Dalaran. I feel they are already represented enough in the Alliance, so no addition of npcs would be needed.

A skin option for Night Elves, with some handwavey bull!@#$ in the first couple of quests, probably. Would make much more sense as a skin option for Humans starting in Elwynn, since the majority of Alliance High Elves are probably centered around Stormwind anyway. Well, that and Theramore...
If they're going to be a fully fledged race with their own racials / class choices, they would at a minimum need new NPCs as racial faction vendors. |
