Here's a thread for all of y'all pure blood DPSer's out there.
When i say "pure blood" I mean at the end of the day.. Your role you have taking in this game is the role of a DPS specialist. Weather it be a feral drood or a rogue. You choose DPS over the tank/heal... Why so ? I for one have tried tanking, and tried healing.. But I just can't stand when the DPS is slow, or isn't leet and can't get the job done. I just like to be the reason why things die fast.PEWPEWPE When I tanked I asked "WHY HASN'T THIS MOB DIED" when i healed I asked " HOW ISN'T THIS MOB DEAD" but when I DPS all I ask is " PULL MORE PLZ".....and I like that to be the case, rather than raging :) WBYG??? I DPS when I need a break from the real roles and just want to do something mindless.

For me personally, I love that feeling of, doing a certain amount of damage, and comparing it to other players of my class/spec, And I like infinite rage during Bloodlust. :3

It's just what I had in mind when I rolled a warrior. When I picked my character and saw warrior as an option, I was thinking about a raging berserker who smashes things with big axes/hammers. This was my first MMO, so the concept of tanking was something I'd never heard of before.
I remember getting in pugs for places like ZF at around level 40 and people asking me where my shield was. My response was usually something along the lines of "Uh.......my shield? I don't even have a shield. Why would I want to put on a shield and do less damage?? I wouldn't even be able to equip one anyway, because it won't let me do that with my Whirlwind axe!" That got me kicked from a few groups. This was back in vanilla where pretty much every class was "(insert role here) or GTFO." I finally caved in and started tanking a little at 60, but I went fury and never looked back after BC came out. |

My reason: Because quite frankly every other !@#$ing role in this game is mind-numbingly boring to me
I DPS when I need a break from the real roles and just want to do something mindless. You can say this all you want, but some people find the other "real" roles boring as %^-*...considering that without dps those "real" roles wouldn't kill "real" mobs I'd say dps is more "real" lol Before you say I'm just mad I can't play a tank or a healer, quite the contrary my friend, but my mind is too active outside the game and tanking is as mindless as dps because for me I can watch tv while tanking because most tanks just aoe tank <-- worse than dps rotations Another thing; Healing although it has quite an importance is also very boring, I'd rather kill than heal...I'm not here to act like a priest and *##* little boys, I'm here to act like OJ and kill some !@#$%es |

I enjoy dpsing the most, as this hunter has been my main since I began. I enjoy killing things and competing against others.
I got into tanking in WotLK and I really enjoy it as well; my second main or main alt is my paladin tank. But, I do not know how anyone can heal...I have tried over and over again to stick to a healing role and I cannot stand it. Healing is by far the most boring thing anyone could ever do...I appreciate the demands on certain encounters but for the most part holy crap...shoot me now. |

For me I think it's just that I like being a good DPS. With a tank I'm sure there is something that separates the good from the bad but it's not really as obvious as it is with DPS.
Plus I'm a really competitive person and topping the DPS meters is what I like to do. |

Oh there is certainly something that separates good tanks from bad. Good tanks know what to CC and will communicate it. Good tanks will use their interrupts when they should/can, as well as dispel themselves if they can. Good tanks manage their defensive cool downs and trinkets to mitigate damage, rather than relying on the healer to overly bust their !@#. Good tanks know how to maintain threat and taunt mobs off their party. Bad tanks run into a mob and assume "I used my AOE threat spell...all is fine - stop pulling off me." |
Or pull half the instance at once and "OMG WHY U LET ME DIE STUPID HEALERZ!!!11!!!1" |

Tanking is the easiest role in the game, DPS a little harder, Healing is the hardest. I remember when tanking on my DK, Paladin or Warrior that I would literally be falling asleep while tanking ICC. DPS is infinitely more interesting to me.

I chose dps because I didn't want to hide in the corner throwing lights or water planting seeds of vitality in my allies and I sure didn't want to be the one taking the beating for some of them that cower or fake death when they make their target angry. I want to be in my opponents face, personally bashing their skull in. You could say I've got anger issues, but this is my anger management program.

Personally, I find tanking and healing to be far more boring. Healing you're watching bars go up and down. Tanking you watch something smack you while you do subpar damage and manage a few cooldowns.
DPS you tear things up with big numbers. Yea. Way more fun. That said, being a good healer is pretty satisfying. I switch my paladin from tank to heals and, now I feel like a hero with my hps. Holy rad is so imbalanced. |

I play all three roles in raids and my opinion is that tanking is the easiest role to fulfil currently. Most of the time, you can just mash whatever button you choose and there's hardly any consequence (even more so in 5-man instances, lol). This is especially so since they recently buffed threat tremendously such that if you are failing to hold it as a tank, the problem is you, not the dps.
DPS is definitely more interesting IF you want to be good. You're constantly looking for ways to get higher numbers on recount and that's what keeps me playing the same content week after week. Seriously, what can a tank do different when an encounter is on farm? :P |
