Hunter vs. Frost Mage

Hello everybody, I was just wondering what how other MM hunters do vs Frost Mages on the higher tier of play in duels. I've been having some trouble beating the dead zones lately and just wanted to see what others are doing that I am not. I can take arcane and fire mages easily just not Frost

a very good Frost Mage can destroy an MM Hunter no matter what anybody tells you. the fact they can stand in melee and pew pew is obviously a big issue, but to top it off, they can spell steal Master's Call.
if you have not tried already, Deterrence and then use Master's Call and try to trap them so you can get maximum distance. Roar of Sacrafice when they Deep Freeze and you have nothing else left. Disengage if they put Ring of Frost on top of you. |

I could probably count on 2 fingers how many times master's call has been stolen from me. use that whenever you can. Scatter, FD, disengage, a good frost mage will do what they can to get in close...you do what you can to not let that happen.
Overall we are one of the classes mages curse. |

You will not beat a frost mage that knows how to deadzone, and knows where his spellsteal button is. THankfully most mages don't know either.

Frontload as many of your cooldowns as early as possible. Gladiator or better mages will spellsteal everything from you. Use RoS if you eat a Deep Freeze and try to Deterrence before you take any damage so your Readiness will be effective.

Don't forget to tranq shot ice barrier asap, removes their damage reduction plus one of their roots. Depending on their gear buffs I've seen it up to 37k bubble, 20 focus to remove that is well worth it, as well as stripping any other buffs.
They shouldn't be a problem given equal skill/gear, however sometimes recently I've seen Deep Freeze go through deterrence which can screw you up badly. If you're rooted with master's call on cd and they run up to you, drop a freezing trap at your feet and 99% of the time they'll walk right into it. Don't blow your cd's until you've tranq'd off their buffs and ice barrier, then zerg them down hard, if possible root them with a trap to blow their blink then use pet root (assuming you're using a spider, stun/silence otherwise) and blow them up. |

As a BM Hunter I have no trouble killing a frost mage 1vs1. They hate Masters Call so much.

LMAO - you are not fighting good Frost Mages. find a good one and please report back when they spell steal Master's Call and then to really rub it in, they spell steal Spirit Heal. |

As a BM Hunter I have no trouble killing a frost mage 1vs1. They hate Masters Call so much. Still have no issues with them. Mages aren't the Hunters bane and aren't invincible. And speaking of good? Why are you hiding behind a level 1 alt? Do you even have a Hunter? |

i am not hiding.
it is easy to tell you have not fought a decent mage. please try to find a mage with 2.2k rating and they will destroy you. MM is actually better equipped to beat a Frost Mage. |

Not too hard a duel, if you mess up the initial shatter out of invis (that has icy veins + trinket up, hurts a ton) its a pretty even duel.
Helps to always have silencing shot up for blink, I spam silencing/scatter everytime I see the little star that appears where they're about to blink to. Pretty sure mages have a shorter GCD after blink so if you're not spamming you will always get nova'd or Cone of cold rooted after blink. And for mirror images try to have them aggro your pet instead or have freedom ready for em. I wouldnt bother spamming tranq, most mages that care will start the duel with so many buffs its a waste of time while getting shattered. tl:dr, mess up initial shatter, pop offensive CDs early, silence/scatter every blink, RoS first deep/fingers of frost, trinket 2nd. frost Mage and feral duels are my personal fav, gl |

BM is king in duals and some pvp when your faceing a caster. Frost mages are easy as long as your not a noob hunter and pop BW at the start of battle. Wait for the mage to put you in that ice crap and then pop it.

a noob saying Frost mages are easy if you're a not a noob? that ice crap is Deep Freeze. When you pop Bestial Wrath, they will Ice Block. Bestial Wrath lasts 10 seconds. Ice Block last 10 seconds. with the glyph, Bestial Wrath CD is still over 1 min. Deep Freeze CD is 30 secs (maybe less if you can glyph?). what are you going to do when they Deep Freeze you the second time? you are BM, so probably don't have Roar of Sacrafice. maybe you will pet heal - maybe the Mage is pretty good and will spell steal it. your pet is being nova'd and you can't get off too many Kill Commands. you Master's Call - the Mage spell steals it. generally speaking, Frost Mage beasts BM. as MM, it might be 50/50. |

Also if you want to get really advanced make a /cancelaura Master's Call macro so the mage wont get benefit from it.

Not advocating anything but its really not so black and white. If I were going to duel a frost mage as BM i'd probably be using a pet with roar of sac. Doesn't even have to be exotic. If mage blocks your Bestial Wrath you could gib the water elemental fast which is a big deal, denies 2 FoF charges and an 8 sec Root, + Damage from its bolts. Could also swap pets during block for a 2nd roar of sac. Improved mend pet will have a good chance at dispelling roots since only debuffs on your pet would be ice armor, CoC or a root. Trinket for 2nd deep and you can deter often because of CTCH to make time for TBW to be up for the 3rd (if it even gets that far) If you use a ferocity pet in a duel vs fmage you deserve to lose though |

i am not hiding. And you troll yet again on your level 1 alt. You don't have a Hunter. I suggest you actually playing the class and leveling it beyond level 1 before trying to come off as a know it all when you clearly know nothing on the matter. And yes, I've faced my fair share of Frost Mages and I have had no issues against them. |

He's actually well renown for being a smartass on his main for most of cata and randomly disappeared (more than likely banned) sometime recently. the more you know (queue music , rainbow star clip etc) |
