New Character Models

In the newest Raid Dragon Soul i noticed the character models of the Aspects and Thrall were very different than the current race models, especially Thrall. He still looks like an orc but he is alot more polished and his animations are smoother. Also i heard that at Blizzcon they mentioned updating the vanilla character models sometime in the future and i cant help but wonder if the Thrall we are seeing now will be similar to the model orcs will be in MoP.
In the older raids or quests anytime Thrall appears he is the same model as all the orcs are. And theres Garrosh who was the first orc ever to be a different model since vanilla, and while i think he looks beast i heard that alot of people didnt like the change they saw to the new Warchief when cata first lauched. And now this new model for an orc appears(Thrall) and while he looks similiar to how the old orcs look he is still very amazing, somewhere in between classic orc and completely different new orc. So what does everyone else think? |

i think that new character models are LOOOONG overdue.
blizzards argument for putting it off so long is 'some ppl want them, but others dont. we dont want to make people angry' but i've yet to see anyone say that they dont want new models, so i dont know where they are getting that argument from lol. |

I honestly think they just want to avoid some of the possible nerd rage. I would if I had to put up with it daily in forums. I'm not saying this forum or the people right now in the forum are nerd raging. I'd be annoyed quick if this was my job though |

I've posted my support for this in many threads, so i'll be brief. With each new race implemented, the older races really begin to show their age. It was bad when the belfs and goats came along, the detail and range of expressions on goblins and worgen is insane, and i'm sure Panda's will again be a triumph of artistic development. My support for this cannot be overstated. In a game with such limited avenues to customize our character upon creation, the one we end up with should not have it's quality predetermined by which expansion it arrived in. It's the model we see every single time we play, and the look in which we present ourselves to the virtual world of Warcraft. It deserves to be treated as more than a "we've discussed it" idea. |

I think there should be race sizes placed in WoW. Seeing the redundant size of an Orc or Blood Elf, or Draenei or Night elf is just kinda boring. I want to see different size varieties.
Sadly the Goblins and Gnomes and Dwarves will get the boot on this idea because they are all 'stunty' type characters. |

No kidding. It's just a delusional form of laziness. I remember how bad the original models looked compared to the BC races when they were released. That was five years ago. Now it's just ridiculous. If they don't have the new models done for MoP, or 5.1 at the latest, there goes most of the respect I have left for them. Dramatic but true. |

Yes, some models really need to be updated. I wish I had an argument against that. |

Its been a long time coming, I however I am frightful of what wont happen. This is Blizzard big chance to expand on the customization of characters allowing for a more diverse look and feel for each character.
I know after bring this up there will be voiced opinions but the worgen female fumbled this hard. Instead of making the current model an option for the player to make they scrapped the alpha and said this is what a worgen lady will look like and there has been an out cry for both sides about it. What saddens me further is the hair styles were amazing and I was hoping at least those would be placed in the barbershop but so far no dice. (fingers cross for female Padaren having some of them) Seeing the model they made for the male pandaren, I hold out hope that when the change comes Joan will still very much feel like the Joan I rolled up the 3rd day of vanilla. The 4/5 toggles of which we make our characters is old and Blizzard can do better. Add don't subtract is what will me over. I was a little miffed that the Goblins ears are attached to their nose and chin (or is that just males?) because I thought that would been a great starting point to expand the creation screen. Now I fear because the Cata races would be limited to the four/five toggles previous races will suffer a handicap in their construction. While I think it will be perfectly reasonable dwarf beard will hang and swing in MoP (one of the videos talked about getting objects to do that) they'll still be limited to the same amount of faces that were there at launch only slightly higher in texture. I guess that would be fine but I'd rather they shoot for the gold and allow the face (for example) to have a nose/eye/brow/chin/ear/jewelry option. I remember Blizzard doing something with our characters during a BC ptr that made Gnomes freakish (like someone was pulling their eyelids apart) and someone posted a pic of their human character live vs ptr, I thought the ptr was gorgeous but the player was annoyed cause it didn't look like her character and it was true the skin tone, the faces and the hair all looked like they belonged to an entirely different toon. This is how expanding the character creation screen can save a lot of heart ache. The way I see it more options means more people are going to be happy. Like I said I fear that this wont happen because of time/cost and actually getting MoP out. Its a daunting task to update 10 races both male and female and on top of that pleasing the community that has probably spent 7 year with the same toon (<3 Joan). I do not envy the shoes the (appropriate name here) team are in at this moment. Come March when they do a press release on MoP I'm gonna be holding my breath to see what their plans are for our character models other then "we want to keep the same feel". I imagine I will be passing out a lot. p.s. I don't like the eye shadow/ sleepy look Jaina was given during her model update in Wriath. The Ulduar video with the squished nose was way better imo. Seriously don't do that to me. |

Can I get a link to this? I haven't heard anything about it. |

Fem Taurs deserve new models! And a portrait where my eyes are open.

I want new models admittedly, but I'm afraid of what I'll end up getting. Everyone says Human Males are ugly, yeah, I can understand that. But if I end up looking like the Vrykul...

I want new models, but I kind of hope it'd take a long time so they get them right. ღ
