Out of curiosity I decided to search my character's name on here, and apparently I'm the only one with the name... other's I've searched (ranging from Bob to Dklol to Retbull to Silvia) had nearly a hundred characters associated with them.

My question is this: which names do you find to be the most unique, something that is creative and doesn't pop up every few times you enter a dungeon or battlegrounds? Or which names do you find very unoriginal?

Personally I find names that are "titles" kind of irritating, because it's like they didn't bother thinking up a good name, and when an NPC or boss or addon calls out a player's name and it's something like "Umad," it sounds extremely sad and makes a situation that could've been enjoyable become a joke. I'll never forget the classic Zul'Gurub where one of the bosses is like "<insert name> I'm watching you!" About two thirds of the raid had silly names, and it was when I started to pay attention to how people name their characters. It's probably wrong for me to think this but I find it hard to take someone seriously when their names have something like "Killer<name>" in them or things to such an effect.

A certain someone will be here shortly who won't be happy with that statement.

With 10 Million active subscriptions having a unique name is hard and if you have a unique name its usually because its just bad.

I like the names that feel like fantasy names Bob doesn't seem like a fantasy name. I also like names like mine that mean something. Reveries = Daydreams something I do alot so it works great and sounds great to me.

I don't necessarily care about being the only one with a name. Hell, last time I checked I think there were 290 Gowron's.

What I do care about it having an actual name. I don't particularly care for things like rogues being named "stabbymcstab" or dk's being named "dkdeath"...you get the idea.

My character's name, oddly enough, is my real name. I just had no imagination and it was available. There are a lot of other toons though with the same name though in Armoury.

I do also dislike the silly names. I never found them funny, always thought the players being immature. Only because majority of the time, they act immaturely.

I'm guessing mine counts as silly, but it's one of my actual nicknames, so if a boss says "Mandapanda I'm watching/stalking/gonna get you!" it's not that far fetched.

I doubt that's true for all of them, but I see your meaning. I hope mine isn't in this category you're making.

I agree, it's a nice name.

Yeah, names like yours or Bob's may be common, but at least it's not out of place. We're in agreement about stabbymcstab being ridiculous.

That's precisely why I find it hard to take people with such names seriously. I'm sure they can act proper, but when you have a good base of players with such names that act like fools, it kind of wears on you.

8 Ohgodfleas 2 belong to me. I'd say that's pretty unique, and I have had many whispers from people commenting on my name.

Last time I looked this was a unique name.

I stole several of my characters' names from books and television shows that I enjoy.

I'm original! /sarcasm

My name was original when I created this toon, as was my hunter. Now it is merely one of many.

I named my rogue Stabbinem because it caught me funny. That and, well, it's what he does.

No idea but I came upon the name when I was looking at Blood Elf names and I used Ael..uron and Aeluron looked awesome so...:D I've had this name all of Cata.

I'm hurt, I thought we had something special. </3

I find it funny. It's more of a statement than a name, to which the aforementioned quote (Ohgodfleas, I'm watching you) would be ridiculous, but it's funny to look at given your DK dog status.

.... I suppose that's not too uncommon, what with all the Blood Elves named after Final Fantasy characters.

Alot of characters on the armory have this name. It was a randomized one and I thought it sounded pretty.

I also have 7 alts, which have different names..
