Low FRAME RATE — FPS Issues

I am suffering from the same issues. Mainly huge lag spikes in random dungeons and even in regular game. 3-4 second freezes. I have tried everything suggested on forums. Most recently I have downloaded WinMTR to see if packet loss is the issue. Here are my findings.

*** could Vlan3254,icore1.SQN be the issue? That was after 40 minutes of play and I got 14% packet loss from there.

I'm not sure, but I remember reading there's a known issue with WoW and Shaw Cable; also they may be throttling WoW's bandwidth because they can't wrap their head around the ginormous amount of packet traffic.
Maybe, but the lost packets aren't coming from Shaw, they are coming from Vlan3254.icore1, whoever that is.
This information about Vlan3254.icore1.SQN-SanJose.as6453.net is disconcerting.

If this is coming from your end Blizz, needless to say I will be cancelling my subscription if this isn't resolved soon. game freezes are unacceptable in pvp and raiding environments.

At the expense of being that guy, Daenon's problem may be unrelated to what's going on with this and similar threads. The issue a lot of us are having is related to our frame rate - the rate at which the game renders frames of animation on the screen. When you talk about lag and packet loss, that's a network issue and a whole new can of worms.

The net effects of issues such as these can be similar to the end user, but that's where it ends. Resolution of graphics issues is either the end user's equipment or the program running on it. Resolution of network issues can be in the program, the end user's computer, their modem/router, any router between the end user and the game server, and the game server itself.

The first step to fixing stuff like this is to determine which problem you're having: a low frame rate, or a network issue such as packet loss.
Latency or packet loss effects frame rate, so they are very much related. My game tells me my latency is fine. Never higher than 60ms home or world, but the game freeezes up for 3-4 seconds regardless.

Also, I have checked everything on my end. My PC hasn't changed since before the patch and I have even had my internet provider send a technician to see if there was something wrong with my internet.

Seriously if you are using 7900 GT with 256 MB memory , it's time to upgrade a new video card
To be honest , my old computer was Intel Duo Core 2 2.00 Ghz , 2 GB memory , Radeon HD 4650 . I ran Wow just fine in town . However , in raid , I got 20-40 fps because all of the effects and stuffs ( lowest settings possible ) . Few months ago , I made a new comp i7 2600k , 16 GB and GTX 560 Ti OC and I always have at least 150+ fps in town and 70-90 in raid ( 25 mans ) with Ultra settings .
The patch actually did nothing to me so I guess it's your computer . Same things on my friends' comps

It really frustrates me when I see threads like this where people cry about framerate issues and do nothing but blame blizzard for it instead of try to fix it.

Newsflash: The vast majority of the WoW population is playing just fine after the patch and have the same framerates as they always have. There are usually a relative handful of people who experience issues after a patch, and a lot of them who don't know how to fix it will complain on the forums. This creates a phenomenon called a vocal majority.

People who experience framerate issues after a patch are usually experiencing issues with addons, software conflicts or need to pick up updates for their drivers or OS. This is what the community reps are trying to help you resolve.

If you want to test this, then try playing the game from someone else's computer that doesn't use the same addons, software and hardware that you do. I'll bet you'll see a difference.

If you would like to try troubleshooting your FPS issues, you can try the suggestions* on the support site to improve them here:

To second what Thwee said, the majority of users are NOT having any problems.

For example I run WoW (just barely) on a 5 year old laptop with an 8400M GT (nVidia) graphics card. I haven't had any FPS issues since the patch I have tested it just yesterday but admittedly I don't hardly play as much as I used to.

I update my graphics card drivers on a regular basis and when the occasion strikes me and I log into WoW for a few minutes I keep a careful eye on my temperatures as this laptop (my only computer) is prone to overheating mostly due to age-hence the reason I don't run WoW.

For those of you running 7xxx, 8xxx, and 9xxx (and the equivalent ATI) chipsets I would first strongly advise a driver update to the latest version using the detailed instructions which I posted earlier to ensure that isn't the issue.

Then again as has been posted test without any addons.

Check out this thread http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3821266839 for a variety of tips and tricks that might help. And finally realize the fact that with this latest patch if nothing fixes it to your liking your card may have finally hit the end of it's useful life.

Engines get upgraded over time, support gets dropped and quite frankly cards (especially onboard ones) can simply start to give out over time.

The 7000 series nVidia card was release in June 05-June 06-that's nearly 6 years for the TAIL end of the series. The 8000 series was in November 06, and the 9000 series was a series of minor upgrades to the 8000 series or a simple rebranding of old 8000 series stock which started in early 2008. I would imagine the equivalent ATI cards had roughly the same release time frame.

The majority of those who are posting about this issue are not just "crying about framerate issues".
We are looking for solutions.
I saw my framerate drop, overnight by 1/2 to 2/3s on a new computer.
I have updated drivers, deleted WTF and interface folders, disabled superfetch, deleted add-ons etc etc. and have not seen any improvement.

new computer != supported hardware. A lot of the time, even in new computers, the components used in them may have already been released for several years before the machine was assembled.

The support article has other steps you can try in addition to the ones you mentioned, which should include:

- checking for windows updates
- checking to see if you're still meeting the system requirements
- trying selective startup
- checking for overheating
- testing openGL mode
- run a defrag/scan disk
- testing the game at lower graphics settings

If you've already tried all that and you're still having an issue, then you might want to talk to a local computer technician. I'm currently running at 60 FPS on a system thats about 4 years old but I maintain well. So your client or the patch is not the problem.

Different graphics engines, different results. You can't ever really use 2 separate computer games as benchmarks for each other. Check out the support link I gave earlier and try those steps.

I am having the same issues and several others here. My computer ran the game just fine until the patch. I have uninstalled/reinstalled game however I cannot do Anything in game except stand around or I drop to 0-1 fps.

@Kayliea

I would suggest that you update your video and sound card drivers as the driver dates are older than the computer I'm typing this response to you on. Also be aware of WoW's minimum system requirements.....although your system just barely clears them it is nowhere near the current recommended requirements.

http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/minimum-system-requirements-for-world-of-warcraft

Video card drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.13&lang=English

Please note your video card has not been supported with updates since early 2010, I would strongly suggest upgrading to a newer one and adding more than the paltry 1GB of RAM as soon as you can. Since you have a 64 bit processor I'd also look into upgrading to a 64 bit OS to take advantage of the extra speed and RAM that can be added.

Your motherboard manufacturer has updates for your BIOS, Sound Card and nForce Chipset (controls network card, and other built in items)
http://us.msi.com/product/mb/#/?sk=Archive&kw=ms-7250

I don't know which of the 4 is inside your computer but you should be able to pop off the case and read the label yourself or even easier grab Speccy from http://www.piriform.com/speccy to find out the motherboard specs inside your machine or probably the easiest grab MSI's LiveUpdate program from

Like I said. If you had bothered to read my post and the others' you would know we have already tried what you suggest might be the issue, Thwee. I have done everything suggested on technical support forums. Here are some of the things I have tried.

-I have tried running with zero addons active. I still get freezes.

-I have deleted WTF folder and cache

-I have updated video drivers

-I have scanned for viruses

-I have tried 32 bit and 64 bit client

-I have done a system restore

- I have used WoW repair utility

-I have diagnosed and benchmarked my video card

-I have searched the forums

-I have RAGED at the Gods

-I have prayed and pleaded to God

-I have arranged for my service provider to send over a tech to check connection

-I have checked for packet loss

So if you don't have anything useful to contribute, don't clog this thread with your useless rhetoric. We get enough of that from Blizz. I am sure that most people who have posted here are intelligent enough to have covered those 'basics' you suggested.
Omg Kayliea condense that system info with pre!
