Whats up with My Little Pony?
|
I keep hearing all this stuff about how great MLP is from people who are too old to be watching cartoons, especially ones that are made for little girls. So I always see "I used to think MLP was gay and blah blah till I watched an episode now I'm in love with it." I figured that's what would happen if I watched it. So I watched three episodes and all I gotta say is that it's exactly what it looks like, a cartoon for little girls. Nothing more, nothing less.
It's not for adults. I keep seeing how it apparently has stuff that adults would like and how its really good but anyone who says it's good also talks like "omg pinky pie is sooo cute i love the song she sang where it was like..." whatever. It sounds like people who need some growing up to do. What is exactly the big draw to this? |

Yeah idk why ppl like it. It seems like something a 3 year old would watch but I see that crap everywhere.

I'm an adult that still watches cartoons. And I don't get it. It might be some sort of commentary on people telling young men what they should and shouldn't watch, but I still don't get it. The show is too saccharine for me to ever enjoy.

The early and mid 90's were probably the golden age of TV cartoons which is probably why many adults still watch cartoons. MLP is just simply a good show that popped up in a time when most cartoons in TV were !@#$. Other good ones are Adventure Time, Regular Show, Generator Rex and Phineas and Ferb which were able to be entertaining due to their semi complex characters and their plots are not always dumbed down. (Why am I talking about kids show again?)

My little pony is a great show. Its very well done and the characters are all unique and fun. I will always watch cartoons...they give me a sense of peace sometimes.

Last time I checked, it never caused any detrimental harm for anyone to watch it. I never understood the relevance of what adults should and shouldn't watch. I could just say World of Warcraft is only for teenagers so adults shouldn't play. If you're older than 19, I guess by that logic that means you shouldn't play or at least enjoy the game right? And when has it caused serious, life-threatening problems to you? Chances are, it hasn't and you'd love to keep playing-- why? You love it, as I do too.
Yes, I LOVE watching My Little Pony mainly because it's refreshing to see a vast contrast to all the violent material on television. I must admit, I was VERY skeptical of it at first. After the first few episodes, I found that the stories and scripts are very well written and the characters themselves are fun to watch. I chuckled and laughed quite a few times. The show delivered more to me than I expected and that was by far the most pleasant experience I've had with a cartoon originally meant for children. |

Well I'm hoping your watching MLP friendship is magic and not the old ones :P but anyway what got me into it was the fan stuff and YouTube clips, then I started watching the actual show. Honestly your probably not going to get hooked off of just 3 episodes, esp. if there just random. There's a few that i didn't like in season 1, and season 2 is where it actually starts getting more how to say it hmm depth? anyways its fine if you don't like it everyone has there own thing just don't be one of those OMG YOUR WATCHING MLP YOUR GAY! :P

I don't always watch cartoons for little girls, but when I do, I watch Friendship is Magic
Stay Awesome, my friends. |

MLP:FiM is a throw back to dexter's lab, samurai Jack, PPG, ect. People who loved those shows will love it. If those shows did not appeal to you then you probably wont get it.
That said: When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."-C.S. Lewis |

The belief that we only use ponies as a form of trolling other people is stupid and just another excuse the insecure men out there use to try and justify the show's popularity because they are far too shallow to think that any proper human being could have a real interest in the show.
I watch the show because it is fun and far more entertaining than about 90% of the crap you find on television these days. I watch all kinds of shows, and yet these cartoon ponies are far more interesting than most every other character I see weekly. Oh, and let's not forget that MLP:FiM has some of the catchiest songs ever created. I have forgotten hundreds of songs over my years, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get Winter Wrap Up out of my head. Plus, bronies kind of have the shows creator on their sides. I didn't create this show for little girls, I created it for little girls and their parents--- including male parents. It only stands to reason that adult animation fans without children may like it, too. -Lauren Faust |

it's a 4chan thing. Im sure there are some people who claim to like it for that reason. But there are far more who like just because they "OMG" like the show! I love cartoons and animation. Especially those with plots/jokes that don't insult the viewers intelligence. Popularity of shows that adults could appreciate were a large part of the reason shows like the PPG were popular in the 90s. Once again MLP is a throw back to that. The shows creator is married to the creator of the PPG and she even created fosters home if you remember that show. |

MLP:FiM is a throw back to dexter's lab, samurai Jack, PPG, ect. People who loved those shows will love it. If those shows did not appeal to you then you probably wont get it. I liked most of those shows. I still don't get MLP. The whole bronie thing does appear to have an air of "come at me bro!" But I'm not sure how much of that is intentional and how much is just typical fanboys being fanboys. |

watch this to get an understanding about the brony communty/family. |

You know, Lauren Faust did the writing for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Powerpuff Girls. If you liked those shows, you'll probably like MLP:FIM. |
At least you use the word "probably." Because I've watched a couple of episodes of MLP awhile back to see what the fuss was about, and still don't get it. |
Plus, bronies kind of have the shows creator on their sides. You really think the creator of a T.V. show would be stupid enough to !@#$ on a major fan base of a show? And I really don't care if people watch kids show. I mean I'll watch Spongebob from time to time or Adventure Time or Regular Show. But what is creepy is how much people talk about the show and HOW they talk about it. Yes some older people liked Power Puff Girls but no one was talking like "OMG Buttercup is so adorable, I like when she said such and such to Mojojojo :3333." Guys, if your 16+ and you talk about MLP like this, for the love of God stop acting like you an 11 year old girl. Its embarrassing and creepy. Nuff said, peace! |
