Looking for Specific Type of Guild (A)
|
Greetings, all!
I began playing WoW last December after 7+ years of EQ. I am greatly enjoying the quest chains in WoW and have reached level 70 on this main by solo questing. Although I do enjoy solo play and questing I am at the point that I would like to join a guild, but am looking for a specific type of guild. *I am "a woman of a certain age" and prefer family-type guilds comprised of others of similar age. *My play style is casual, not in the amount of time I play, but in how I approach the game. I am not interested in "end game/raiding" but rather questing, learning how to group in WoW with guildies, working my professions, and meeting like-minded people. *I have role-played various themes in several online venues, beginning in the 80's, but never in an MMORPG. My preference would be light rp, but I am most willing to learn. If anyone reading this can point me to a guild of this nature I would be most appreciative. I bring maturity, dedication, and the willingness to learn to a guild. If I find the right "fit" I would be a long-time member. I can be reached in game via whisper or mail. I will check back here for any responses as well. Thank you. |

Thank you for your response, Chinaski. I was a bit leery of garnering a few flames so I really appreciate a pleasant first comment. *smiles* |

Not a whole lot of flaming goes on here, at least not for threads like this. At most you'll just encounter someone being a goof, but nothing much more than that. ;P |
Ah, good to know. :) This was my first post. |

Aw. You're too tall. You have to be a Gnome to join our guild.
*sits down on a nearby crate* Well, then, here: have a cupcake. Cupcakes make you happy. *nods* |

..for some reason, I really like your outfit. It's like an armored pirate.
I'm afraid I can't suggest anything to you, given the nature of the guilds I tend to frequent, but I wish you good luck in your hunt. Is there any specific theme of RP you'd prefer? |
Aw. You're too tall. You have to be a Gnome to join our guild. *Sits down to chat with Tikky and accepts the cupcake gratefully* Mmmmmm...delicious! Thank you. Ahhhh, being too tall - story of my life. See my father's side of the family are all very tall and.... |
..for some reason, I really like your outfit. It's like an armored pirate. Thank you for the compliment on my outfit, Voragos. Maybe it's the headband that gives it the pirate flair. It's John Keeshan's headband I chose after the demise of the Bravo Squad (still bummed about that) and I enjoy wearing it when I don't need the extra head slot armor count. I'm not familiar with the types of RP available in WoW. My former RP experiences were on different venues - text only, virtual worlds, etc. I have enjoyed historically-themed RP such as the Victorian era, 1920's, 1940's, pre-revolutionary Russia and such but not sure if any of that would translate to WoW. I'm interested in learning what RP themes exist in WoW. |

Feel free to check out Crusaders of Skadoosh... we have actually been recruiting for some time specifically as a social/family guild. We do raid regularly, but dont expect everyone to by any means. We try to keep it a friendly place, not a lot of drama, not a lot of heavy language etc. etc. and welcome friendly players no matter what their goals are.
You can get a really good feel for the guild by visiting our website, and browsing the forums a bit. Feel free to give myself, Benelderath or Talfrund a shout in game any time to chat more, and truly good luck finding what your looking for my friend! skadoosh.us |

Alt Factory is a social, casual guild for mature players. We have a minimum age requirement to ensure that the occasional curse word or innuendo can slip without corrupting young minds, and also have a zero tolerance policy towards using hate speech or derogatory slurs of any kind. We have an extremely diverse player base, so potential members will find that our guild offers something for everyone, from PvE to PvP, and even a little light RP. In addition to our range of interests, we possess an easygoing attitude and eagerness to assist anyone new to any of those areas.
If you would like additional information about Alt Factory, please visit our website. The guild’s handbook and an FAQ can be found in the ‘About Us’ tab. http://alt-factory.wowstead.com/ |

Thank you all so very much for your responses, kind words, and welcome. So glad I found my way to this forum! Decided to answer responses in one post rather than totem-posting:
@Chinaski - Thank you as well for the compliments on my outfit. It's my first attempt at transmog so I'm pleased that seasoned WoW players like it. *smiles* I was using "family guild" in the sense of I would likely be a bit out of place in a guild of primarily teens. Nothing against teens at all - just different mindsets. That said, I have had the pleasure of knowing many teens/younger set that are more mature than some adults, so a guild where the atmosphere is on the mature side (not meaning X-rated for mature either...lol) would be great! @Rionash - Thank you for your well wishes. :) @Juansun - Thank you for the info on your guild. It sounds much like what I would enjoy. I will be sure to check out the website and appreciate the offer to contact you and the others in game. Love the name...ummmm...where is Skadoosh? @Vincentus - Heh. Thanks for the warning...I think? *grins* I do appreciate the wishes and welcome and hope to see you in Stormwind as well. @Devynn - Thank you as well for the link to your website and info on your guild. I like your policies - some of the chat I see in General channel just makes me shake my head. A guild where, as a newbie to WoW, I could learn and grow without feeling like a drag on the others would be great. I initially hesitated on posting this but now see that it was a great decision. In addition to perhaps finding a guild, I have definitely met some wonderful people and new friends. Thank you all again for such warm responses. |

Victorian era RP should be easily available to the Alliance, given that the theme of Gilneas is pretty much Victorian horror. Pre-evolutionary Russia.. I'm not sure, but the Forsaken would go well with post-apocalyptic Russia ( or post-apocalyptic anything). WoW's era and themes are sort of mixed so you can't really go too wrong.. there's certainly medieval-style RP, and night elves would be great for nature / druidic RP. |

There was a time when I wouldn't have understood this, but the older I get the more I appreciate this statement. Having a mentally/emotionally mature guild to be a part of is definitely important. There’s also something to be said about those times when everyone else is talking about <hot topic>/you reminiscence about your youth, and neither side gets what the hell is going on. It’s good to have people you can relate to. There are a lot of great people on this server and I’m sure you’ll find a good home. Feel free to say hello if you see me around! |

Bumping for solidarity!
Welcome to the forums and I hope you find a guild to your liking! |

The thing I love about WoW, is you can have a mature group of people that arent absolutely BORING \O/ Oh, and Skadoosh isnt a place... its technically a spinof from Kung Fu Panda (and just in case your thinking it, the guild was formed almost two years before the Mists of Pandaria announcement)... and yes... I do in fact love "kids" movies. :P |

There is a great thread at http://www.skadoosh.us/forums/crusaders-of-skadoosh-master/guild-information-suggestions/1467957-who-the-heck-are-crusaders-of-skadoosh where guild members describe the guild as it is and what we want it to be, in our own words.
I cringe a little every time someone says, "mature language," because what usually gets labeled as, "mature language," is pretty immature in my book. "Mature guild," kinda makes me wonder if it's the same as, "mature language," every time I see someone use that phrase. We're definitely family-friendly in that we're mostly adults and the kind of guild that, if I had any young kids (mine's grown), this is where I'd put them. Just whisper me, Juansun, Senlord or Benelderath, if you'd like to join, or send any of us in-game mail. |
