Glyph of Totemic Encirclement
When you cast a totem spell, you also place unempowered totems for any elements that are not currently active. These totems have 5 health and produce no other effects. What is the point of this beta glyph, just to make us feel like the "old" days? |

Seems to be a mild slight of hand effect. I.e. casting the aoe stun totem and there are 4 totems on the ground, there is a chance the opposing player will hit a useless totem.

It does work to preserve the old/current feel of the "Call of the" spells. It also serves as a sort of raid marker - I know I use my totems to mark places where to stack -, and I think, if I'm correctly guessing how it's going to function, it will work so your totems all activate in a designated place, which can be a veeery situational but helpful thing.
Let's say, there's a fight where people stack in two groups: A tanking group and a healing group. The healing group will be rooted in an interphase. Me, as a melee, will be far away from them, but I also have a talented totem that can free them all of their root: Windwalk Totem. So I place the unempowered totems near the healing group and then go take my place with the rest of the melees in the tanking group. When that interphase comes, my Windwalk will activate at the location of my unempowered air totem freeing the healing group. Another contrieved situation: I'm guarding a flag in AB with two more players. Two enemies approach: A healer and a tank come in as decoys. As we try to bring them down, a rogue sneaks and tries to capture the flag while we're attacking/CC'ing/being CC'd. However, I placed an unempowered air totem next to the flag: Capacitor Totem appears, explodes and I scream like a rabid kobold YOU NO TAKE FLAG. It's a really really situational glyph, if I get the working of it right, but it can be used in certain situations. Besides, which part of being a shaman isn't contrieved and situational? **sigh** Small edit: If it doesn't works like this, this is just another terrible glyph, so add one more to the list. Paired with Glyph of Totemic Vigor it can be used to freak people out in PvP, though. |

It's for people OCD about symmetry that would be bothered to no end by only having one totem out most of the time.
Not that I'm speaking out of experience or anything. |

It's for people OCD about symmetry that would be bothered to no end by only having one totem out most of the time. ^This I have a friend who hates shaman coz everytime he drops Tremor totem or Mana Tide, he thinks they are alone and incomplete :) As for confusing your opponents in pvp... our totems that are left are mostly our cd abilities. Your opponents in pvp will not allow you to benefit from them if at all possible. So totems = 2-3sec duration with this glyph... |

I really hope this isn't supposed to be our new "fun glyph"

^This. Plus, it will still make those tab-targeting opponents in random pugs irritated. Especially if you get 2 or more Shammy standing together. |

On topic i really really enjoy this glyph for 2 reasons:
1) usefull in pvp to confuse enemy trying to kill your totems 2) aesthetics, i always liked being surrounded by four totems it is cool. Casting an isolated totem doesnt look that great. it will still make those tab-targeting opponents in random pugs irritated. Especially if you get 2 or more Shammy standing together. i use this macro bound to tab key: /targetenemy [spec:1] spec:1 is my pve spec spec:2 is my pvp spec no more tab to pets, snakes, wolves, totems, elementals, minions just players (in pvp) |

hahahaha. I just watched Yugioh Abridged stuff like 10 minutes ago. But this is very true, smart players are still going to know what totem you dropped by knowing the Shaman class. "He got out of fear? well I know Tremor is an earth totem, so hit green." |
Basically this. That and some people don't like odd numbers. |

Like all minor glyphs in MOP, it's for either convenience or to be cosmetic/fun.
This one falls under cosmetic/fun... though you might be able to use it to trick people in PVP. |

Its just so your active totems don't get too lonely. I'm in beta and its nice to have. I thought it would be weird not having totems at my feet all the time (and i HATE totems) but having this glyph makes it not such a harsh adjustment.
Basically this. That and some people don't like odd numbers. Odd numbers are great and so is the number three. Odd numbers are great and so is the number three. Odd numbers are great and so is the number three. |
