Removal of Deadzone - Concern...

I am thinking about trying out the Hunter class here come MoP but something was brought up that bothered me.

With the removal of Deadzone, Hunters can effectively DPS from melee to their max range without having any issues. Take a warrior for example... they can only do DPS in melee range, effecitvely turning hunters into casters with a pet. With the control a hunter can lay down via flares/traps, pet abilities... do you think this may paint a big crosshair on the class to get shot back down?

theyre removing concussive shot from the game, if anything it's a small buff hiding a massive nerf to an already bad pvp class. it is irrelevant if they can hit from anywhere on the screen, the damage isnt as high as mage or rogue, it doesnt penetrate armor the same unless in survival spec which does "meh" dps, and theyre still not going to stand in a rogues face spamming ranged moves because they will go down first. they also are still casting steady shot or cobra shot 50% of the time because of focus limitations. it would do nothing other than "normalize" them but the removal of concussive will nerf them back to terrible @ pvp don't worry. now they have no deadzone but theyre just welcoming everyone to stand on them knowing theyll never get proper distancing without a snare.

if youre thinking about picking up a hunter for pvp don't bother, if for pve theyre one of the best and i greatly enjoy it. pet collecting and what-not. if you want ranged pvp, you should go look at mage instead

Frost mages have a pet and a hell of a lot more control. If there's a problem with hunters getting targeted and killed in Mists, it won't be because of shooting in melee range.

Every new "revolutionary" hunter change gets everyone worried about us being overpowered, and it never happens.

Auto-shot while moving nooooooo hunters will be OP! Nope.

Aspect of the Fox, hunters can do just about everything while moving, hunters will be OP! Nope.

Still basically bottom of the barrel PvP wise, even in Rated Battlegrounds where people thought we'd be so great.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/pvp/battlegrounds/?page=6

First hunter you see is 232..... then a few more pages to the 300s you see a few more. The representation is pitiful.

It's not like that's the only change, they're also making our shots able to be dodged and forcing us into expertise. While it is fair in the sense that we've typically spent less stats in the way of not having our attacks avoided, certain classes currently have very high dodge and the amount we would get dodged would be ridiculous. If they don't make some changes to how we deal with dodged shots OR massively reduce the passive dodge rogues/ferals have, they will be laughing at us as we get destroyed by them.

Honestly removal of melee weapon and melee range should have happened a loooong time ago.

Yeah... and the flares thing... that was pretty funny.

hunters are basically mages trading control and dps for more armor, but warriors and rogues go through the armor with armor reducing talents and abilities, and deathknights outheal the hunter so what you're left with, is a weaker mage with a deadzone that can kite very well. theyre changing that. now you'll be a weaker mage without a deadzone that cant kite very well. it wont be much difference they'll still suck at pvp.

SO much griping, so little time. Instead of complaining about it, learn to use it better. Yes, we stink at melee range . . . ooop, frost trap, deterrence, disengage. While we can't nuke something like a mage can, our shots are instant cast (with the exception of the focus charging ones), ergo we fire on the move when we need to move. Our pets are also a utility . . . the right spec/pet combination will yield great results. As a marksman, use pets that reduce armor, or increase physical damage. Survival, use pets that increase magic/elemental damage. Don't insult the class because you're having troubles with it . . . it's there for you to figure out, not for someone to hold your hand.

The underlying nerf that has not been addressed enough is the inclusion of enemy DODGE to hunter shots. It is the main reason conc was removed and baked into the arcane glyp. The devs can already foresee that we will need to reapply our slows due to dodge so they made it spamable (at the cost of focus & a glyp) but this just a bandage fix to a leaky damn. They are taking the class that has the worst resource generation for pvp and made it worse (Jury is still out as to how the new changes to our focus mechanics will fix this) and made it that much worse by having our already focus heavy shots miss 1/3 of the time (more on classes that have dodge upping abilities)

lots of skills/talents/glyphs are changing so this is a major gameplay change that i really believe we will need to wait and see how it will go before making any useful judgments

this beta has just started and i really doubt we got all the changes we will get till mop launches

This. Hunter control is a joke compared to a mage, a class that is, ironically, a caster with a pet.

We are actually going to be alot better in MoP from the looks of it.
This. People are so simple minded. Look at it as concussive shot with no cooldown and some focus cost, no big deal.
