Blizzard Launcher has stopped working
|
|
Ok...I don't know how many of these posts I have read, and how many "fixes" I have tried, but I am getting VERY tired of this issue not being fixed.
Thus far I have done the following: Deleted the WoW.mfil file Deleted the Blizzard Launcher Deleted the Updates folder Run the repair tool Run the Background Downloader to get the latest patch information Totally deleted the game Completely reinstalled and patched the game Completely wiped my hard drive with a fresh install of Win7 and ONLY installed WoWNow I am COMPLETELY irritated! I have spent the better part of almost a week now trying to get the game to come up to no avail. When is Blizz going to REALLY address this issue that so many are having? |

bump because I too have this issue

Are any of you using McAfee. I found the solution if thats the case as it was mine.

Believe it or not, I don't use ANY virus protection. And despite that, I never get a virus of any kind.Of course I probably just jinxed myself by saying it out loud. : / |

I have norton and webroot, still have the same problems as of 2 days now. So nice to pay for something that I cant play

Completely insane, i just started to play again, 3 of my friends hit 85, and then the first weekend i get off in 3 weeks, this happens.
I havent been able to run the launcher for 4 days, and after every fix imaginable on these forsaken forums, I continue to get new errors. Telling me my data/map mpq's are missing Some dual white screen that pops up with the option to send a report to blizzard but when you click the nice send button, it tells you it cant connect, and to check my firewall. Even the repair tool does not work, instead, giving me a connection error. My internet works, there is no fluctuation in the network. My firewall and antivirus have been turned off. Save us, Thrall. Otherwise im playing guild wars, and im sure none of us wants to do that. jk, i still wont play guildwars, but having wasted money on a new subscription only to be kept from the game. I think we all deserve a free mount. The hell with this. Hideous Orcses. You keep nasty chips. |

i still have not found any kind of explanation for this. i've tried EVERYTHING. i have no antivirus anymore and nothing on any of the forums have worked. :(

So is Blizz even reading these kinds of posts? This is appearing to me as an ongoing issue for many people based on how many threads I have seen with this same issue, yet I have not seen a single solution to fix it that works for everyone.

I'm having the same problems. I found a way to bypass the launcher yesterday by just going strait to the WoW program, but today all it's done is get me to the login screen. I try to log in and it just tells me it can't.
I tried just re-downloading the entire game client just to see if that would work, but I'm getting stuck halfway on one of those "Downloading updated tools" things. |
|
|
I just tried to run the fresh WoW client as an admin and it just shut itself down.
I'm totally lost here. |
|
|
Week 3 of this problem with no solution or post from Blizz asking questions or offering assistance.
At this point I am just bumping this up to see if Blizz ever takes notice of it. |
|
have u right clicked the installer and selected "run as administrator" - mine just started acting crazy... and that fixed it
|
|
|
Of course. I've tried everything I have seen on the forums so far.

what did you do to Mcafee to make your launcher work?

I've been having this problem since 4.3.3, but been just bypassing the launcher. Now this morning I can't play no matter what I do. When I try to repair it says "wow installation cannot be found." Even though it's on the same drive, in the same directory.
I've done what Blizz has said to do, even allowing access on public networks (Windows Firewall) and it still fails. |
|
My launcher automatically gets shut down by microsft telling me the file isnt responding, ive been having to open wow file location go to WoW & run it from there for the last 2weeks or so, i started a thread about it to no response.

I'm not sure I'm having the same issue, but the launcher keeps crashing randomly during downloads usually after 2-10 seconds, I've tried everything I can think of including a full reinstall, uninstalling my firewall and antivirus, running in safe mode, running repairs, giving administrator permission, I've tried everything except wiping my whole computer clean and starting over. The launcher worked fine from vanilla to wrath, but in cata it's been crap. Hell I've even port forwarded. As someone who has played this game for over 7 years this is really pissing me off. Oh and I'm running windows 7 if that means anything at all.

Remove the 3 64bit client files if you have them. Delete the Updates folder and the Cache folder (they will be recreated). Run the launcher.

I've tried all these things and when I run the launcher it says "Blizzard launcher must be int he same folder as a Blizzard Game. Run Repair to get more information."
When I run repair i get "Repair is unable to find your World of Warcraft Installation, please run this tool from your World of Warcraft directory" I'm in the WoW directory and the only thing that's changed is I deleted (Moved just in case) the three files, the Cache and Update folders. Everything else is still there. Any ideas? |
