Updated for 5.2!
So, pretty much daily there is a new thread or sometimes two of someone wanting to transfer to the server and asking questions, seeing as people are too lazy to search for previous threads I am hoping if this can get stickied it will stop a lot of these threads from being made. History: Frostmourne, named after the sword which corrupted Arthas, is an Oceanic realm that was also the first Oceanic PVP Realm to be opened on 22 October 2005. It is filled with a number of excellent guilds and players who have made a name for themselves and Frostmourne in both PvP and PvE combat. Time zone/Server status: Frostmourne, while hosted in California is an Oceanic realm (meaning Australia/Japan etc) So unless your work times make it impossible to raid on US realms I don't advise you come here if you are living in the US as most of us will be sleeping during your prime time. The server time is GMT+10 (AEST) Characters seen: Alliance - 101,032 Horde - 65,766 Ratio: 1.536 The server status is full, meaning while the server might not be at capacity at all times it will be close to it. So you may be susceptible to queues. This is not usually the case but it will be after some content patches and definitely will be after Mists is released. Queues: You may run into queues after major patch releases and definitely after expansion releases, but now that the mists of pandaria hype has died down you most likely will not see a queue any time soon. PVP: Battlegrounds: In case you are a bit late on the band wagon all US battle groups were merged in 4.1, meaning you will not get a higher win rate of random battle grounds if you transfer here, it would be the same. Rated Battlegrounds: Another question often asked is on the topic of Rated Battlegrounds. If you keep an eye out in trade or general chat you will see low/no mmr RBG's running daily. There are also higher rated mmr RBG's running constantly as well. You will have no trouble pugging these if you don't want to join a guild. World pvp:World PVP is not dead, it has just evolved. You need to make it yourself, don't expect it to come to you. New 5.2 Daily Islands are full of PVP actions, should have fun there if that is what you are after. Just be creative with world PVP, examples: (credit goes to Mintii) www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUyhE1HVoDM (mute audio) www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-TF2m7loV0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6KrT4e-snU There also seems to be a fair bit of PVP going on in pandaria which is great. Tol Barad: Do people even still do this in Mop? I heard they updated TB and WG for 90 but I haven't seen much about it PVE: Current Content: 5.2: Grats to Avast on realm first Ra-Den!, world 27th and US 6th, very respectable ranking. 5.1: <Suit Up> having downed H Sha is now 16/16 Heroic at a world rank of 29 and US ranking of 6, Grats to KIP on realm second with a sub 200 world ranking! Right now Frostmourne is rank 5 realm (US) and rank 1 Oceanic, you can see Frostmournes progression here: http://www.wowprogress.com/pve/us/frostmourne Sha: After Sha loot resets you will literally see a new group every 10 minutes for a day or two, even after that groups are very common so you will have no trouble killing it, I have heard low pop servers have lots of trouble getting groups together after the weeks first few kills. Galleon will be dead within 15 minutes of spawning guaranteed no matter what time he spawns. Old content: Daily there are achievement runs going for mount metas such as FL and ICC, there is also always a black temple/sunwell/bwl etc Transmog/achieve run going on somewhere, just keep your eyes open and you will be set. But for specific achievements I suggest you sign up to openraid (http://www.openraid.us) Economy: Like most high-pop servers the economy is very robust, while there are a lot of overpriced things (ores/profession materials/enchanting mats etc) there are also a heap of things that are low in price compared to other servers e.g. Raid boe's as they are in abundance compared to a low-pop server. The average cost to level a profession is 6k-10k+ That is all I can think of at the moment, probably missed a few things, if you want me to add something post below; Don't forget to click the Sticky button! I find it hard to believe little gnomes would be able to enslave us "full sized" people. |
