Scholomance is up for a revamp is MoP, and I wanted to get the Cadaverous set for my monk's transmog. However, the bosses that drop that set are going away and the set is BoP, which means I can't really farm it ahead of time. The plate set that drops from those bosses is also rather important; it's the set worn by a lot of the vanilla death knight NPCs, and is more or less our unofficial tier 0.5.
Are those sets, and the other armor sets and unusual items that drop off the six minibosses in Scholomance's basement, going to remain in the game in some form? (just the models would be fine.) If not, could they be moved to Darkmoon vendors? (And, yes, I know the silver-thread set uses the same models as Cadaverous, but it's cloth. Can't mog cloth onto a monk's leather armor, unless the rules change a lot more than I'm expecting them to.) |

Good question! That's a beautiful set. Hell, the chest served me well in raiding for quite awhile until my luck changed.

Supposedly they are going to be removed, so I made sure to farm Scholomance for the Bloodmail set ^_^ Also, I heard that the Scarlet Crusade tabard may get removed in MoP since the mobs that drops it are going to be gone. Not sure, But I farmed it anyway. I rather be safe than sorry.

I'm hoping it gets moved to Darkmoon Replicas. I'll farm the Necropile Raiment set on my mage, though, just in case.

They do! There's both the Silver-Thread set, which is a green set that shares the Cadaverous model, only in cloth, and the Necroplie set, which drops off those bosses, looks like a sleeveless version of the Robes of Arugal, and makes people double-take when they see the name. There's also some red and black mail armor, fittingly called the Bloodmail set. |

They could stop removing things from the game. That would be a nice change of pace.

We discussed this topic with the developers last week a bit. I don't have any conclusive information for you, but they recognize there are a lot of cool items in SM and Scholomance, and they want to try and preserve those in Mists. Please try harder than you did with items going bye-bye in Cataclysm. |
What about many of the tailoring patterns that are necessary for some of the really nice looking mog sets? You know, like the ones from Knot Thimblejack in DM: North. He's still there. The Ogre Suit quest is still there, but you deprecated the repeatable quest that lets a player try to get LW/tailoring patterns for the mooncloth and the now exceedingly rare (or just plain absent) You brought the Dungeon Sets from vanilla back via the DMF, but those are a royal PITA to save up for. Why aren't things like this and those sets added to boss loot tables in say, BRS/UBRS? I'd much rather be able to farm for them that way than something like the DMF which shows up just once per month (despite being on an island permanently now...). Actually I'd just like a way to get/experience things from older content without always having ot take the long way around (Karazhan, Shattered Halls, anyone?). In the developers' zeal to remove mundane things like keys, they removed direct route access via locked doors and quest items, and the fallout from that was fairly significant. The tailoring patterns I mentioned above for mog sets were pure collateral damage from the removal of those game elements. I have the complete Archmage cloth set for my mage/priest that I can make...except the belt. But I can't get the belt in-game anymore because the pattern I need is from a deprecated quest whose items were never moved to a location we could get them from. Areas that were once easy to get into, such as the Dire Maul Library were somehow inexplicably cut off (walled up) with the release of the Cataclysm expansion's initial patch. The problem you're facing goes much deeper than a simple item set or two. The collateral damage caused by the removal of the keys in the game and the quests that use them was very substantial. |
