So me and a friend were doing some PvP on our Horde toons, and I noticed a Paladin jumped onto her and she dropped in literally 3 seconds. This was the only DPS attacking and noticed that the player didn't have many buffs and 110% sure there wasn't any BG zerker buff. So I ask her to screenshot the logs, as I wanted to ask the DD people how that happened. I blurred out the names (to avoid forum rules issues) but after armory the Paladin they were somewhat equal gear minus the weapon.
Her: Balanced Druid : full Cata (T1) geared - roughly 5000 Resilience Paladin: 3/5 Cata (T1) and 2/5 Raid Finder (yes double checked) with a Heroic Gurth. (added: and a Heroic DS Trinket, the rest was T1 PvP or Raid Finder). In the screenshot she missed another ability that did another 50000 crit damage, I'm guessing it was that Templars thingy and left out the other 50000+ Hammer crit that dropped her as she was trying to get some distance. Now this isn't a NERF class thread, but wondering how does that kind of damage get dissed out to someone with a ton of Resil. I know Rogues can do it, but wasn't aware other classes had even more zerg-mania setups. http://imageshack.us/f/710/pwnagez.jpg/ Aside from that, how would one counter if your Trinket and some CDs were down, is there any class or spec in the game that could lol at that kind of zerg? Just curious and would love to hear some of your theory craft. Disclaimer (added): It was while I was stuck in a Repentance as my trinket was down as well >.< so maybe 6 seconds, but after the 3 she was down to about 10% hp. I know she had a full rack of Lifeblooms and a Rejuv but didn't seem to make a diff. |

If it was outside of arena he may have used Golemblood Potion for a +1200 strength buff.

That's a good point, 1200+ Str could add a nice boost but even still kind of crazy. Though it could the combo of a Heroic Gurth and Heroic Trinket. I have a friend on main (who I harass all the time :P) who's our MT, Blood DK, and when we PvP together he uses his Normal Gurth and shocked how hard he hits even after the Veng nerf, he has bragged about hitting people with 4500ish Resil for mid 30ks.
With that said after thinking about it, I kind of feel bad for hardcore PvP'rs that have to deal with imba PvE gear and all this cc/burst/stun/blankets... Just nuts to see these crazy high numbers flying around in PvP with max resil. I would like to get back into serious PvP but just can't find people that stay interested in it long enough like back in the day. |

This just in: Rets can do serious damage with their CDs. Pity they're trivially dispellable and/or avoidable.

That, and probably had bone-link fetish. Last I heard the PvE trinkets aren't affected by resilience and bone-link says it'll hit for 25-30k for me. So a crit would be around 50-60k. Also this person may have had 4 piece when he was PvPing giving him 18% more damage with Zealotry up. Rets are insane burst damage. Pure and simple, but outside of those CDs they won't be hitting like trucks unless you are low resilience and/or they are just PvE geared. |

hardcore pvprs often have friends who are hard core pvers to get them those crazy trinkets, because DS/FL are hard content. also yes. ret paladins do burst harder then anyone with their cooldowns up, particularly if they have a very good weapon. pity we're absurdly easy to shut down. why do people still complain about rets when there are so many classes that burst just as hard as we do, but have a million times the control and survivability we do? |
I hardly ever see anybody complain about a ret paladin. Every once in a blue moon somebody will get destroyed by one and feel the need to say something about it, but it's quite rare. |

Hmm, 70k damage against a 5k resil target in 3 seconds from range. Sounds like Pallies need a snare.

Soooo a 3 holy power from judge/crusader strike or a divine purpose proc from some ability into Avenging Wrathed Templar's Verdict to a Hammer of Wrath wait 6 seconds and another Hammer of Wrath all of which were crits.
That's 10-16 seconds, and the actual burst happened over 8-9 seconds. What can you do? 1. Realize that most classes can gib someone with crit streak while cooldowns are rolling. 2. Completely ruin his day by dispelling/stealing wings. 3. Intimidating Shout, Throwdown, Charge, Intervene, Barkskin, Solar Beam, Bash, etc... 4. Be happy it wasn't a frost mage otherwise the burst really would have only been 3 seconds. |

That pally had everything going if they dropped a 50K hammer crit on someone with 5K Resilience. |

Yes, melee do insane burst when they get to you. No, it's not imba. They do no damage when they can't reach you.

Just a sidenote, since you're a warrior, make sure you always pop Spell Reflect whenever a Ret is on you and pops their wings.
9 times out of 10 they'll own themselves with a reflected Hammer of Wrath lol |

This just in: Not with a good team. Have you ever watched Vanguards stream? There is no excusing this kind of damage. |

The simple answer: PvP in this game is not balanced. :)
