Okay, I realize a lot of people will flame this thread.. because they dislike Green Day, but whatever..

Billie Joe Armstrong tweeted an hour ago..

"Ok. Here's the deal. We're making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January"

Opinions?

(mostly looking for opinions / thoughts from actual Green Day fans)

Haven't listened to them in forever but I'd be a little worried if I was a big Green Day fan, quality over quantity.

green day hasn't done anything worth a crap since the 90's. I think Dookie was the last decent thing they did

American Idiot was good, extremely overplayed but good.

A few bands I've been into over the years have written and recorded multiple albums at the same time like this, they all ended up blowing their load on the first album (putting all of the quality singles on it) despite claiming vehemently that the reason for releasing multiple albums was because the songs were so good they couldn't cut any of them (or they wanted to finish a story arc that could and should have ended on the first disk)... and the follow-ups were major snorefests.

I can't see Green Day (of all bands) being able to pull it off.

well i can't say i've liked awhole lot of what green day has come out with in almost 10 years. i'm with moekey in that dookie was their last greatest album. that being said one of my most fave album(s) of all time is The Smashing Pumpkins Melloncollie and the Infinite Sadness which was a double album. the range of different songs from dark and angry, silly, depressing, love songs and straight up rock songs is still amasing. all the different instruments used and different styles for each song still gets me pumped up or sobbing in a dark room alone depending on what songs i listen to.
do i think greenday can pull off something like that? ummmmm probably not. i hope so but probably not, itd better not be 3 albums worth of "Know your Enemy" that song can die in a fire

Mellon Collie was an amazing album, and in my opinion, one of the best that's ever been put out there (up there with some of the best albums of all time). The breadth of songwriting and musical styles was phenomenal.
