Dear Dungeon Levelers

Hi, I'm the tank. You know, that guy that is the meat shield for your group. I'm typically also the party leader, and I like to do things my way. It's why I like to be the tank, after all. Now, there are times where you get to one up me. When you decide to tab target while auto-shooting and pull an extra group, or blink past me and run off to pull more. That's fine. I'm the tank, I can grab everything just fine, and pop CDs as needed. However, I felt it necessary to take some time to outline some things on what not to do, or what will happen. Ready? Let's go!
1) Let's say, I'm tanking two groups of adds that I've decided was just enough to handle without stressing out my healer. And let's say, you decided to pull extra mobs. That's fine. I will allow this to a certain point. If you continue to stress out the healer because I'm having to pop CD's to handle the now 3 extra groups you've pulled, I will let you die. Flat out, bam, dead. If you manage to survive because you ice-blocked, feigned death, or other abilities to escape your fate, so be it. I'm the tank, I'm pretty patient. Your time will come during the dungeon, and when you complain, I will flat out not care. 2) Now, let's have another theoretical situation. Let's say, we're in Razorfen Downs, and there are OTHER people, besides you, that want the escort quest. I'm the tank, and even though I haven't done the escort quest, I don't really mind. I'll get it on the other 2-3 times the random dungeon puts me in it. However, if you start it before others have picked up the quest, I will move on to other portions of the dungeon, letting the quest giver die and you fail your escort. I will also NOT go back and redo the quest when he respawns, because that is a waste of time. Again, I'm the tank, I don't mind. Instant dungeon queues here, you won't make me cry. 3) This one, I think, is the most important one you need to know. You are not the tank. I am the tank, as I've said numerous times just in-case you've gone and forgotten while reading this. If you pull the boss, I will go back to example 1 and do the same result: let you die. If, you have gone and pulled a boss in which causes all the rest of the adds still alive (such as pulling Mograine in Scarlet Monstary: Cathedral to aggro, you may have even just caused us to wipe, in which I shall calmly explain what you did wrong, and possibly kick you depending on your response. I don't mind mistakes, it comes naturally while PuG-ing. However, I do not tolerate you telling me it wasn't your fault when I clearly watched you do it. TL:DR I'm the tank, you're not. I'm not going to cry over you wiping us, or even pulling extra mobs. But I will let you die. I will not defend my reasoning for doing so, and I will not hesitate to kick you should you start lashing out at me in party. Thanks! P.S. My reasoning for posting this is to save your life. If you don't mind dying, then by all means, continue to do everything stated above :D |

yea....you're going to want to go ahead and get over yourself. you are not god's gift to wow, you are one member of the team. a good healer doesn't even require a tank to make the run a success at level 43. if ppl die because you are not tanking, it is your fault. man up and do your job with some humility and appreciation for the other 4, 9 or 24 ppl in your group.

there's these interesting things in punctuation called periods. they signify the end of one sentence and the beginning of another. there are also never 9 or 24 other ppl in his group at level 43 so there's just no way it's possible i'm talking about tanking in general, right? perhaps a separate paragraph is in order to clarify my statements but i think it is much more likely that you are being intentionally obtuse. is your e-peen throbbing right now?

I was kind of like this too until I realized that I was doing 5x the damage as the rest of my group put together as Protection. At that point, it just felt like I was soloing dungeons with little AI partners of varying intelligence.

Talyriel, you may think its there fault but it is only there fault if you pull the boss/adds and then the team wipes, you should be thankful that you have dps making your job easier by pulling more mobs therefore speeding up the instance since most can aoe mobs down. I have done wrath dungeons where we had a frost mage who just pulled everything, we just killed it all before it could touch us. I wish this was trolling but too many people act like this in low level dungeons so I highly doubt its trolling.

There is also something called capitalization. It represents the beginning of new sentences and proper nouns. Is your e-peen throbbing right now?

Sorry, but I never think "oh, my healer is amazing!". 9 out of 10 healers in the lower levels, which is what we're talking about, suck. Badly. Don't care what you say, I'm carrying my group as both a tank, and dpsing while tanking. So yes, my e-peen is huge, and I don't mind showing it off. :)
Also, I typed the entire post without proofreading. I don't mind having run-on sentences, because frankly, I don't care. =) |

Trust me, when tanks piss me off with your arrogance I just stand back and let you die. Have fun with your repair bills. |

Have fun licking the floor when you piss off your healer, though it seems you already have practice doing so. |

Thanks!Meh: wait till the day when your group realizes they have a healer who can swap to tanking, and a DPS who can swap to healing, and you go *poof*. Trust me that's in your future. Groups can and will kick tanks who view a video game as an ego stroking session. |

Dear OP;
You are not a unique snowflake. I've levelled 7ish tanks and 8ish healers, anything you can do I can do better. I can heal a dps through a pull, and b/c I've seen and dealt with so many pugs I'm completely jaded and will laugh maniacally when you die. Sincerely, An altaholic |

So, you just posted about being a great tank, ie: leader, dps'er and healer. We dont care what you think, this isnt a porta potty for you to stroke your e-peen in.
Its over that way --------------> DPS forums. Btw, i also heal on several other toons and i love tanks like you that i can watch die due to your own arrogance ( and lack of my heals). Get a grip! If you whine about other people, make your own guild and just quest all by your lonesome. |

On one hand, I agree with OP. It's annoying when the healer or DPS pulls for me. I set a pace in dungeons that I think is an acceptable balance between chaining trash packs / bosses, and keep in mind if I have undergeared DPS (or bad ones pulling low numbers), or an undergeared healer who can't keep up with two trash packs together at once (or a bad healer who is just incompetent anyways).
On the other hand, it's incredibly easy to replace tanks nowadays. It's not like years bygone where skill was actually needed to tank even a simple heroic dungeon and those good tanks were one in a dozen. That said, OP, my suggestion to you is: COMMUNICATE with your random group. Despite what may seem contrary to this, most people are pretty understanding of people who express concerns in a dungeon and are willing to cool their heels. |
