This is a normal mode mechanic that you are failing to. Read that a few times.
On normal mode there are of course three different spawn configurations, and for each configuration everyone is assigned a number. Let's say Player A was assigned to add 1 and player B was assigned to add 2, and both are around where adds 1 and 2 are, and then they both charge in to 2 and 1 hits the hammer for a wipe. So if you want to be technical, in that example we "failed" the mechanic, with the reason being that the player misheard or misunderstood the assignment. That has nothing to do with not being able to do the job, it's about misunderstanding what your job is. That's what happened a couple times on heroic, where I assigned positions for a few different parts of the fight and it was getting late and people were at the wrong positions.
The equivalent of you talking junk about supposedly "failing" to a normal mode mechanic is the equivalent of me making fun of you for not answering problem 3A of your homework "1+1=?" because instead you did problem 4 and thus you failed your homework.
I don't really care if he can play fire or frost (even though he can) because he pisses all over his peers globally as arcane. How bout you link your best parses from your handful of attempts? I'm more then satisfied with the production of our mage.

I've had plenty of almost-top 200 parses, but unfortunately lacking the following elements that nearly all top fire parses have meant it was not sick-nasty like it could have been: +4% SP, Focus Magic, Dark Intent, and a group set up to kill the boss in an extremely quick fashion (underhealing). At the same time, there is huge variance involved on top of a buggy Ignite mechanic. For example, the 200th highest firemage parse on 10H Ultra lacked 4% SP, DI, and Focus Magic, and it took 4:22 to down the boss, but he pulled 50k. If you look at the details, he lacked Living Bomb on Ultra for 1/4 of the fight (worse than most Durotan mages in any respectable guilds), missed a Flame Orb, and missed a set of Mirrors, among anything else I might have missed. He basically got a parse simply off lucky Ignite stacks and procs lining up. Could have probably pulled 52k if he wasn't horrid, and a hell of a lot more if he had the full buff set and a quick kill.
Some people in the group have gotten a bit of parse fever - my priority is to get the boss down. I let these guys sit on Yors on Heroic while I go handle the oozes for example; one time for fun I asked if I could solo a set of adds with a combust spread. If I know my Combustion on a Warmaster drake will be well below average but will take away the small chance we wipe because the drake might fly off if my procs or my partner's procs suck, then I'm going to do it instead of taking the gamble for the potential payout of combusting on a walking add and spreading it to his buddy.
So essentially heroic Ultra is my playground fight because I am doing no detriment to the raid by trying to "pad" the meters or have other people do "dumb" stuff (except for the one time that I had such a big Combustion that I pulled aggro off the tanks - they say I threw the son at the boss).
It's like poker though; every week I play the absolute perfect rotation and maximize uptimes, but you have to get lucky to hit it big. I had a pretty tight one last week with 48k, no 4% SP, DI, or Focus Magic; we were set up to get the achievement while on heroic, fight took 4 mins and some odd seconds.
Fool Kami screwed up the logs though, so you'll have to assume I can't somehow fake Recount http://i.imgur.com/AVVIS.png?1 [Forcekin was a pug]
BTW, if you check the HC Ultra from this week, you will hilariously find that the boss was face pulled by a healer. Kinda ruined the whole pre-pot, pre-cast Pyro sequence among other things.
I'd be happy to go over my parses; unfortunately all the fights except Ultra I'm either optimizing on killing the boss (ex. Yors), or I'm not jacking off padding the meters (ex. Spine), or the fight's RNG component is humongous (ex. Hag). So if you'd like we can look into HC Ultra parses and analyze my cooldown usage and Living Bomb uptime among other things; you'll find they match or exceed those by mages in top guilds in the world, many of which don't even have a fully optimized reforge.
