What's this realm like - really?
|
I'm scouting servers. My main toons are on a dying backwater realm which once had a thriving community but is now disintegrating. It never had good raid progression, but that's actually secondary to what I would like.
I prefer Horde. How is the community? Leveling to 14 here, I noticed that Trade is mostly used for actual trade with the occasional conversational diversions, which is - shall I say - unheard of on my realm, where Trade is full of arguments and Thunderfury spam. Input appreciated. |

I really like the community and there is a good amount of quality guilds as well.
Trade chat can run off course pretty often, but that happens everywhere. |

It's perfect....

http://www.openraid.us/ is the key to our success, I know several groups go on weekly acheezement runs and organize thru the site

Were you in the fail Inept raid on Org last night? Thanks for all the free kills :) |
Maybe you should give your guildies some lessons :) |

I transferred here a few days ago, and I have to say - compared to virtually every other PvE server I've been on (outside of the handful of vastly overpopulated ones), this place is THRIVING. Sure, if you're looking for a PvP market this isn't the place, but otherwise this seems like a solid server all-around. The economy's a little better than average, PvE progression seems to be absolutely wonderful, and there are always people around.
Compared to the garbage dump a lot of PvE servers are becoming, this one seems wonderful. I don't regret moving here one bit. |
I happened to be in Org doing some auction house business when that "raid" came in. Lots of lols. I only wished I'd had a max-level character to join in the fun, but it was certainly great entertainment to watch. |

Neato how people who have only been here a day or 2, or have recently just switched factions, have such a through understanding of the server.
It's ok. It's nothing special. I certainly would not pay real life money to come here, but you could do worse. Alliance side is far more active than horde (though that may be the case on most servers these days.) Trade chat is usually lame and trolli like any other server, not sure why people even factor that in as a deciding factor anymore. It's not at all close to what it was 3 - 5 years ago, not even a little. If I were interested in starting all over again, think I'd go with what a poster earlier suggested, pvp server. Cheers! |

Just transferred from the dying server you're thinking about transferring from. Certainly a step up from Steamwheedle Cartel, and people actually do PUGs for Dragon Soul! Also, this server is much more active and there's generally more players online round the clock.
I played on Steamwheedle Cartel since March 2006, and in those six years that server was my home. It's great to be somewhere new. Switching servers was one of the best wow-related decisions I've made, and hopefully the experience will be as enjoyable for you as it was for me. Best of luck to you! |
