Trying to find something from the RPG

I know the Role-playing game isn't exactly canon but, still this was been bothering me for a little way and I figure I might as well ask.
I seem to remember reading about a Tauren Tribe that was almost wiped out (By the Centaurs i think) but the few surviving members were sort of adopted/assimilated/protected by the Grimtotems of all people. I've been looking through the books I have and I can't seem to find them again. Am I crazy and just imagined reading it, or is it really there and I'm blind. If it is what was the name of this tribe? |

Every race on Azaroth has "almost been wiped out". I think Blizzard just gets giddy from using that phrase.
