Not trying to play a 1st person shooter
|
|
So, lately, as I've been questing, dungeoning, and pvping while I level my hunter. Whenever I get out of a vehicle, battleground, dungeon, or get stunned, I am force zoomed in all the way to first person view. Then I am unable to zoom out. I hit the buttons to zoom out, and I partially zoom away, but then am forced right back into first person view and can't get out of it until I /reload ui... is there any way of preventing this from happening at all? IT's gotten me killed several times and it's starting to frustrate me.

Help? It's happened like 10 more times since I posted it.

This sounds like a configuration issue on your end. |

Go into your keybindings and check your camera settings. Sometime the bindings to the up-scroll and down-scroll get unbound. If you still have a problem after that it could be a problem with your mouse, or it's driver program.

I know what my keybindings to zoom in and out are. I just said I can start to zoom out a little, but it forces me back into 1st person. Please read the whole post before bothering to comment on it.

Check your camera settings. It's an option in the menu.
Also, delete your wtf, cache, and interface folders. Then restart the game. |
Nice bite the hand of someone trying yo help you. I told you to check the keybindings first, as it is the most common cause of this problem, and the easiest ti fix. It still could be an issue with the zoom out keybinding of your "Mouse." But if you check that then as I said it is most likely an issue with your mouse itself. Sounds like your mouse wheel may be sticking then you up scroll. While your zoom out button over rides it a bit, to allow you to only zoom out a bit. But as soon as you let go of it, the stuck mouse wheel is still scrolling up, and zoom you right back in. If it is not a stuck mouse wheel, then it could be your zoom up button may be stick instead. |

Max camera distance is set to far. JUST did a wow repair yesterday. Have experienced this same issue on other accounts, on other computers.

My mouse buttons are not the buttons I use to move my camera. My zoom in/out buttons are home/end. I have my mouse wheel bound to buttons on my action bar. My mouse has nothing to do with my camera unless I right click to look around.

Just an idea - but could it be a coincidence that when this happens your toon is up against a wall or object?
I know with my toons that if you try to zoom out, or are zoomed out, and "look" around, if there is some sort of object / wall / barrier located virtually behind the field of view at that moment, the camera will be forced to zoom in to a near first person view. |

Just an idea - but could it be a coincidence that when this happens your toon is up against a wall or object? Actually, you may or may not be amazed to think that some people do actually have an issue as Nephe describes - not knowing / realizing that there is an object blocking their ability to zoom out. Have you deleted your WTF, Cache and Interface folders? This will completely reset your UI to see if there may be an addon causing your problem. If you have, I apologize for mentioning such an easy step, if not, you need to, because it is a key first step that the GMs will ask to help you troubleshoot the problem. |

As I've said in this thread at least twice, and in my original post... I CAN BEGIN TO ZOOM OUT, I GO BACK A LITTLE BIT, I CAN EVEN SOMETIMES GO ALL THE WAY BACK, BUT AS SOON AS I STOP SPAMMING THE KEY TO ZOOM OUT, IT SNAPS ME BACK INTO FIRST PERSON VIEW. Only in caps so hopefully nobody misses it... AGAIN... Does WoW repair not clear out your cache, interface, and WTF folders? |
|
|
Be my guest and try it. Stand with your characters back to a building - zoom out as far as you can, and look around. Please report back what you find. I'll be waiting for an apology thanks. |

ALSO this happens on OTHER computers as well! Not just this one.

Since "first step" instructions for troubleshooting problems in game always include being directed to delete Cache, Interface and WTF folders (rather than running repair tool), I'm going to go ahead and make the leap that the answer to your question is NO. So, try it, let us know what happens. It could be an addon causing your problem, best to rule that out first. :) Edit: Especially because of this:
(You may have a "bad" addon file, assuming you use the same addons on any copy of your game you use, whatever the computer.) |
|
|
To my knowledge, all the repair tool does is repair the actual WoW game files. Any other files that are in the folders, such as addons and such, are left as is. This is why one of the first things you should try doing is moving your WTF, Cache and Interface files out of the World of Warcraft main folder. |
Just an idea - but could it be a coincidence that when this happens your toon is up against a wall or object? It wasn't trolling, but your post however, was. |

If you want help it would be nice to not yell at the people who are trying to help you. We have no way of know you knowledge of the situation. Please keep that in mind. Do the following steps and then please advise if this helps. 1. Reset your key-bindings 2. press the end key until you are at the distance you like 3. go into interface settings, under camera select Never adjust camera settings Did this resolve your issue?
No it does not. This is the first thing any tech support will ask you to do before giving any assistance. It is always the first step.
GM's do not read or post in the forums. It was not trolling. People have posted similar issue and it was for standing by a wall. There are new players in the game that do not understand how certain things function. We cannot assume anything that is why the question was politely asked. This is also not a tech support forum. For tech support issues like this you would need to contact tech support. You can either call or post in the tech support forums.
Key-bindings are saved server side, not client side. So if it is an issue with the key-bindings it will happen on any computer. Just an FYI |

Okay, here's what's been done.
WTF/Cache/interface folders all deleted. Game is running with 0 addons. I reset my keybindings back, zoomed all the way out, told it to never adjust my camera, then reset everything back to the way I had it before. Got out of a dungeon, still the same problem. |
