I've been reading up on it for a little while and i'm getting ready to pull the trigger and get this thing built if anyone has some advice on better options than what i have so far it would be much appreciated trying to stick around the $1,200 range

Going to mention that:

Do you really need to pay $185 for a motherboard? Just as good ones can be had for almost $60 less with no loss in quality.

WD hard drives are expensive. 7200RPM 1TB drives can be had for about $90 elsewhere.

Radeon 6950 is not recommended in this point when you can buy a HD 7850 for not much more.

Don't forget a computer case.

I got the Asrock z77 extreme4 mobo for around 130.00 USD.

It works good and has some nice future proof. Also OCing on it was a piece of cake.
