Does Anyone Use Fury Anymore?
|
I have a Warrior alt at the moment and he is Fury. The problem is that almost everyone else I see is Arms and they do 1-3k more than me even with a lower gear level. Is the gap between Fury and Arms that large, or is it operating error. If Fury is underpowered, would dual wielding Gurth's even out the difference. Just interested in hearing others opinions on Fury and Arms as they are now.

I think it depends more on skill and ability to play the spec correctly than anything. I've seen a fury warrior with lfr double gurth destroy a heroic geared arms warrior and vice versa. Arms is easier for me to play than fury so that's the spec I go with.

remember a day when it was the arms spec that was lacking, and for a warrior you were either fury or you tank (protection).
If you don't like how it is now just wait a while, the pendulum will swing back. See, the Devs at Blizz, no matter how hard they try, can't ever truly get a class's specs balanced out. So while one is clearly down today, tomorrow its boosted and the former more powerful one is nerfed ;) Then the arguing and debating starts all over again. |

Part of the problem fury has is theres no utility. Even previously in this xpac when fury was better, you could get away with arms because of the aoe difference was so great. Now, there just isn't much reason to play fury from a pure numbers perspective. And we all know how fury does in pvp.... Fury does have value for soloing certain raid bosses where port doesn't do enough damage. Has by far more healing than arms.

Go Fury if you want to grief Arms warriors by rolling on Gurthalak for your OH.

All of those arms provides except rampage which is an extremely common buff. So yep, fury provide no utility compared to arms. |

My thoughts on fury:
The first madness kill we got double gurths dropped I was the only plate char in the group that had a dps spec ( I was tanking) So raid leader laughed and said grats Syrrix looks like you got 2x gurths! I asked our holy paly (pve/pvp heals) If he ever planned to try Ret he said prolly not anytime soon. I gave him one anyway. - Fury |

In Heroic DS, Fury falls behind Arms even on single target fights. Just take a look at the top WoL parses and you will see what I mean. Fury is used only on Spine because fury has better burst which is needed for the burning tendon. Fury has been better than Arms in a PvE environment for almost 2 whole expansions. Arms was a better spec in Naxx and fury became better as warriors geared up in Ulduar, and ever since then up until now Fury was the spec to be for PvE dps, with the exception of AoE heavy fights such as Maloriak and possibly Sinestra standing out for arms.
So basically, people will flock to whatever performs the best. Ideally, I'd love to see both specs be about equal and players who care can go to whatever spec theoretically pumps out a bit more dps on individual encounters, because no matter how Blizz balances things, one spec will always be slightly better than the other in different situations. |

i got my second gurthalak for my offspec so i went fury
my reasoning? why the !@#$ not.
because you bring an arms warrior to the raid for utility. If you really wanted though, piercing howl is more accessible as fury than as arms. |
i got my second gurthalak for my offspec so i went fury Lol thats cool and all but if youve ever even glanced at Landsoul's spreadsheet youd know that the best weapon choice for fury is Gurth MH/Ataraxis OH. 2 gurths is useless, the procs arnt enough to outweigh the stats youd get from ataraxis being in the OH. |

i got my second gurthalak for my offspec so i went fury i know that but does it overcome the jealousy factor on the part of the casual peasants who want their own h gurth? |

Never seen someone love Fury as much as you. Two fury specs? That's boss! |
