No, it's not really worth it; I consider it as a luxury upgrade item. A high-quality air-cooler cools almost as well as an H100.

I bought my H100 primarily because it doesn't cause a lot of stress on the motherboard as the big coolers can.

You consider the V6 GT high quality? I see more people with hyper 212's etc..

Well, V6 GT not necessarily the 'highest quality', but it's generally slightly better than the Hyper 212 as it is, almost 10C better if dual fan

Ok then, won't get it. Gotta say though Corsair really does make you wanna buy it with all the advertising lol.

Nothing to worry about right? This board I'm getting is new so maybe it'll take a bit before it gets stressed under the weight of the cooler (if that's the pressure you're referring to).

Yeah, generally nothing to worry about. Only really poor quality motherboards may suffer an actual damage from this.

Hello Kalganized, GPU question here.

I've decided to build your, "Good build for under 1k" build, and was looking for some advice on my chosen Graphics card. I know for certain that I'm replacing the GTX 560 with the Radeon HD 7850. But now I'm seriously considering stepping it up to the GTX 670.

In your pre-decided build, would I have to change any of the other components when I switched from the 560 to either the Radeon HD 7850, or even the GTX 670?

not running SLi/CrossFire by the way.

Thanks in advance. <3

No, you don't have to change anything from the 1k build.

Hello Kalganized,
You guide is really good and helpful for first timers however I am lost for few reasons. Firstly I live in Canada and not U.S and secondly I can only pay cash or debit so can't do online shopping to build the pc. Lastly I went with build desktop just under 1K and so far i have spent 897 incl. tax but far from finished. Could you please take a look at these parts and link the proper parts for the 900-1k build. Many thanks in advance!

CPU: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7073161
(I went with this since 2300 and 3450 were not at the store however this 2500k is 2nd gen which i realized afterwards)

Motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2276160&srkey=g452-2366
(I went with this since BIOSTAR B75MU3+ isnt avaible in stock or at shop and i know this is one of the four for next best build which i am not interested in :(

RAM: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7104116&srkey=k24-9917
(There were only 2 options that fit the 1600 MHz and 8 GB requirement and this was the cheaper option)

Graphics: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=555358&srkey=e145-1566
(there were bunch of them around 210-240 mark including GeForce 560 Ti however all were 1GB or 1024MB in total and the one i linked here & bought was 2 GB for extra 20,30 bucks. I wasnt sure since you didnt specify wether 1 GB was too much for this or not.

Power Supply: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=419877&srkey=t925-3083
(I was about to buy cooling master 500W for much cheaper price however none of 500 or 550 had bronze 80 plus. This was the cheapest at 750W with 80 plus bronze.

Case: HAF 912 (Only item I am satisfied with lol)

THINKING ABOUT BUYING:

SSD: I picked out one for 128 GB for 137 bucks but dont remember exact name or item #

Hard Drive: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2159694&srkey=tmd-500as5
(I am not a big user of HD and never have been so was gonna go with either SSD or regular Hard drive and not both. What do you recommend?)

DVD Drive: I picked out one for 25 bucks but dont remember exact name or item #

NON BUILD ITEMS:

OS: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5213932&CatId=306

Moniter: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6052506&CatId=2775
(My question is about the ms of this moniter, is this good or just so-so?)

As you can see and it took me few hours to realize after going thru more research that is my build is nor here nor there. What I wanted from the get go was your 902 build and I know that doesnt include the currency rate and taxes into fact but still I am stuck in middle.

I recommend you check out:

newegg.ca
ncix.com

Both are Canada-based.

See what options you can use. Both of these sites accept other methods of payments like Paypal, or even checks. Then change your build, and post it again.

Kalg, does Tomato firmware exist for the D-Link DIR 615? Because it's not working as well, (was hard-headed and went with the dlink). It's hiccing up sometimes when I play xbox live + skype + WoW whereas the Linksys wouldn't, and in WoW it's freezeing for 1-3 seconds and it comes back with regular latency, not sure if this is WoW or the router's firmware. I can return it if needed.

Tomato firmware is limited to Linksys and some other Broadcom chipset routers. D-Link is not supported.

DD-WRT (a different firmware) does support D-Link DIR 615:

Aww I have rev l1 and look what it says:

Donated router needed for port

Is there any other firmwares I could try? Or should I just continue using it and if the issue persists gets the refurbished netgear?
100 Blood Elf Paladin

None, really. :(

You can try to configure its wireless settings and see if any of them will fix it. D-link may also have updated firmware of their own.

I'm not sure why I didn't do this earlier, but I've added this into the User Tips and Tricks thread over at Technical Support:

Excellent job, Kalganized. You've done well keeping everything up-to-date, fresh, and relevant. :)

Lol, I got the revision l1, no official d-link firmware for it either.

edit: Think I'll just return it and get the Netgear if the issue persists.

Thanks, it's an honor to be mentioned in your guide! :D

Stoneshield:

Yeah, I'd go with the Netgear.
