Yeah, I'm early. Anyway, here's some pictures I took of the yearly pestilence that goes on along the lake.
Now it may look a little horrifying, and it's not fun to try to make a turn at the end of the street only to have your wheels spin in dead bugs, but they're not that bad. Locally known as fishflies, mayflies only live in their adult form for 20-24 hours. They do not bite or sting. In fact, they don't eat anything either as an adult.
As someone who's lived around em every year, it's fun to see people not used to them lose their s**t this time of year (bonus points if they're one person in a group that freaks out while everyone around them wonders why they've gone mental). You really have to live close to their breeding source to experience them, if you get 1/6th of a mile away from the water, you don't see em as much.
