Hey,

Have an 83 assassination rogue-- and was wondering whether using two of the same speed (1.8) weapons will negatively affect dps, or whether I should stick with faster offhand?

Depends. Is it a major, MAJOR stat change? ( I mean like going from Wrath level gear to Cata level gear ). That kind of jump can skewer the usual optimal information.

slow/fast is the way to go, although it doesn't really matter at lvl 83. No one min/maxes their way to 85. If you didn't get a fast offhand from quests or dungeons, don't sweat it. But at 85 you should invest in a fast offhand.

It would be interesting to know how many tiers you'd need to skip for it to be better, but considering this is assassination with all its poison damage, well maybe 3.5 tiers is enough but....

According to ShadowCraft, Mandible of the Old Ones (378) > Blade of the Unmaker (416).

So at least two tiers at T13 BiS. Could be variant convergences/divergences at other gear levels, though.

I wanna say it wouldnt beat even a 333 1.4 speed. thats what I remember someone coming up with a while back

Yeah, I started at 333 and worked my way up. Mandible of the Old Ones was the first to pass it.

ohhhh ok.

But, thats the heroic madness dagger, how well would it work for other daggers? :P
