One of these days, er...weeks, one will drop... right? (and I will roll a single digit number)

to bad no cross realm real DS yet
we have it for most anyone with a heal spec(main, off, off off), hell our ret/holy pally just needs the maw to have a equal/better heal set than me(we he did get all kinds of spirit plate including a couple heroic pieces yesterday)

Ever feel like you are the sole player that decides a server group's pugs?

I was on a low 60 mage alt pugging bc dungeons and I got into a slave pens where a dps dk broke my cc. Every. Single. Time. (I am sorry you guys who have bad frost mage experiences, I got complimented by a shammy that said he was almost never outdpsed when I beat him marginally) Tired of waiting on a healer, I got on my similarly-leveled priest. And was waiting on a dps for dungeons! I got TANKS before dps.

And it was the best night of dungeons ever!!! I got GOOD dk tank and we proceeded to wipe the floor with ramparts. Several times he mentioned how awesome a healer I was which made me all warm and fuzzy inside :3 The only problem was that somehow one dps always had to drop and we would get a lower lvl one so we did ramparts like 8 times :( About halfway through i switched from holy to disc and we just WRECKED the place. He could chainpull large groups and everything was OK, que more compliments :)

Wefinally get into slave pens and he died twice. Once I dced and the other I was behind looting while he ran off. No one else died though, no wipes whatsoever for over 10 runs.
It is SO nice to have good healing stories every once in a while :)

I'm getting the feeling my server is pretty 'dead' in the sense that no one cares about raiding anymore except the people in full RF gear that can't get past normal zon'ozz. Or, if they do raid, they're not really looking for the trouble of taking on a new core member. So it's hope my guild 1) is motivated enough to run DS this week and 2) needs a healer =\ But there's like 2 other guilds I'm doing this with xP (my have to consider transfering)

Related-to-thread story time:

I've discovered Monday nights can be a GREAT time to farm satchels! The easiest one was a zone into H GB at last boss. Tank reminds dps what to do, we down him easy with me topping the dps chart. that was fun.

Hardest one was BRC. I've done BRC on normal and heroic several times while leveling and despite the Corla horror stories have never had a problem. maybe one wipe on the fire boss. So I get this Prot Pally barely meeting the ilvl tanking. At the start we have an afk dps but go ahead and start clearing the trash before whats-his-face bonecrusher. Then the tank pulls Bonecrusher. 21k hps and 2 pain supps later we all survive, the afk dps drops and we get a frost DK. No harm done, sometimes he gets accidentally pulled... On trash to corla, dk is @3k dps.

For the rest of the bosses, he asks me to "tell [him] what to do," as if there's just one thing he needs to tunnel on and it'll all be fine. We wiped multiple times an each boss. After wipe 4 on corla, after he's gone off on the dps again for "not killing the adds" I tell him off for 1) not knowing the fights he's TANKING and 2) not interrupting Dark Command. He replies "I don't have an interrupt" I link him Rebuke. "oh, yeah i have that. it's not on my bars" "lets add 3) being terrible at your class" "lol u nerd u so bad stupid heals" /eyeroll. Armed with the awesome power of rebuke, we down Corla with only add evolving. /yay

Several wipes on Beauty (I tried convincing him to skip it) due to him kiting her out of healing range before fear (and not being able to survive w/o a heal for 3s). I explained not to kite away from me, but around me if possible so that doesn't happen to a "but thers lava"

I got a pet out of it, so maybe sorta almost not unworth it in the end. If we didn't have a competent rogue to do 1/2 the dps I probably would have left. Him being undergeared was fine, not knowing fights as a tank is less forgivable, but ok...I can explain them, at least he asks. But asking and then not listening and throwing back "you said to x and I did x stop being so bad"

they arn't ALL bad, we do get a few amazing ones
most are average

but we get near insta queues(tanks are shorter) and we are used to watching the ground, the tank's health our health, everyone else's health, the HPS and DPS meters, and everything else
so we notice the stupid, and some of us have egos big enough to try and heal it(last check Rain's ego was the size of a solar system :P )

So I've got another "what's an interrupt" story .... but with a twist!

So I zone in right before Azshara, and the tank asks "Who's got the interrupt?" After a resounding silence, I ask the mage if he can do it ... and he says he doesn't know how, which honestly doesn't surprise me at this point even if it is the saddest thing ever. So I just take care of it. We wipe once and then finish it all classy-like.

I start explaining it to him afterwards, and he says "Oh, I wish I'd known that earlier! I started this instance at 3"

.... it's 6pm.

"It's fine, I stayed because I'm watching Law and Order"

Yeah, Law & Order's great ... when I'm knitting with my grandma ... But you've been wiping on Azshara for 3 hours? Really? I feel like there must be some mind-altering substances involved there.

Most of the time I'm playing a priest, I'm not on a priest who looks like she should be giving advice. :< So many ragtag alts.

Half the time I'm playing, I'm on an alt and can't just slip into my heroic gear and shut the bads up.

Songs is lucky. Lucky Songs, lucky Songs. :(

That's probably the only time I've done that. Normally, I try not to bring attention to my gear because you know, the moment most pugs see a healer that can handle crap, they're going to go full on retard. As an example:

Zone in to H HoO for a statchel and I the first thing I'm greeted with was, "Whoa! This healer can carry us!" All the dps+tank was sub 8k dps and the fights took forever with them taking as much damage as humanly possible at first. It wasn't hard to heal through, but the fact that I had to do it because they assumed I would carry them, bugged the hell out of me. To get back at them, I kept them just above death on each pull. Eventually they caught on and shaped up.

Rogue: With that gear, you'd think this healer wouldn't be having problems.
Me: Who says I'm having problems?
Rogue: We're all below 30% health. I call that having problems.
Me: No, that's called me letting you know that if you make another mistake, you're probably going to die. If you'll notices, I'm at full mana. If I was having problems, I'd be oom.
Rogue: Whatever. Baddie l2heal
Me: l2mechanics

I swear I never really had many troubles with my other characters, but suddenly my bear is running into all sorts of stuff.

Zoned into an End Time in progress, with a shadow priest out of the instance in ghost form. Paladin healer, enhancement shaman, and a rogue for the rest of the party. Portal into Jaina's room and see that she's already up, so they wiped on the boss. I wonder if no one got flare... oh, nope, there's two packs of trash, wandering right up next to her. That must've been it. Just when I'm about to ask, one of the alive DPS suggests killing the trash I'm lumbering toward and marking.

We're nearly done killing the second set of trash when the spriest finally finds the instance and comes back in (after someone says "priest afk?"). Buff up, let him get some health and mana, and pull. Flare core goes out and... priest runs away from it. As far as he can. Everyone else is in melee range, and no one's doing anything, so I hit darkflight and drag everyone along to the bomb just in time.

Once we recover and get into rotations again, everyone else tells the priest to run to the core, not away. Next core goes out, he runs away again. Hey, I wonder... Yep, he's from Tol Barad. Spend the rest of the fight dragging the boss and the rest of the party to the core while the priest runs as far from it as he can every time. I'll go with benefit of the doubt and call that a contributing factor to the 6k DPS he managed.

Kicked him as soon as loot rolls were done, finished the rest without issue.

Normally my groups while maybe not good, per se, are usually not bad enough to post about... but I just had a dk in a group that makes me wish it was physically possible to stab someone through my monitor...

Scenario: DK stands in Purifying Light and Wave of Virtue and (predictably) dies.
DK: You should get Healium so you heal better.
Me: You should get DBM so you don't stand in crap.
DK: I already have it, and it was just a constructive criticism.
Me: No, it really wasn't since you died from standing in stuff you can EASILY avoid.
Me: <links damage taken from source>
Me: See? Don't stand in the bad and you won't die.

I haven't had too many terrible runs so far, although I did have an interesting experience with what I can only assume was either a troll or a bot.

Zoned into Utgarde Keep, tank is a pally, plus a DK, hunter and priest for dps. After a few pulls it's pretty clear this guy is holding aggro like sieves hold water, and one of the dps noted that he didn't have RF on. No response from the tank. I ask him to turn it on, and he says no. No exaplanation, just no.

Eventually we resorted to having the DK tank (as frost) and doing a much better job of it. The original tank just hangs around for a bit, occasionally spouting strings of punctuation marks or saying 'whta!', before saying 'tyty' and leaving. Not really a bad experience, the rest of the run went pretty smoothly, just an extremely odd one.

I had a tank last night in Tol'vir (or however it's spelled) that I am sure was trolling us. His ilvl was like 400 so he was obviously overgeared and maybe doing a satchel run.

We all say hello, etc. Not one single word from him the entire run...

First boss was weird, it had to be him trolling us. He kited the boss ALL OVER and kept weaving in and out of the pillars with him. I think I got maybe one Smite off, and the other dps couldn't hit him either, they all did like 3-4k dps. No one could get los and he was moving all over. We went on like this for quite some time and finally, and I have no idea how this happened, the boss just reset. So, round two, tank does same thing. This time I really make an effort to chase the boss and dps as much as I can so we can kill him and move on already. The tank kept dragging him on top of all the mines too, lots of damage going out.

We finally killed him after what seemed like forever. No one says a word so I didn't ether. If the tank was trolling us he was probably dissapointed I was fine with doing dps and healing all the crazy damage.

The rest of the run was normal, it was just werid.

i got a horror story from a couple days ago. now, i wasn't healing this, a priest guildie of mine was. i was on my mage trying to get gear.

queue for random HoT, and get end time. as i said, i'm on my mage trying to get gear. i have a priest guildie say she'll come and heal a couple for me. anyways, we zone in. the other three people in group are guildies from another server. oh goody, two guild groups! fun! anyways, we go through the portal to the first boss, and it's baine. tank is explaining fight mechanics to his guildies, not a big deal. anyways, tank charges in, and does his thing. all goes well until baine casts his first pulverize. as baine swims back to the tank, he keeps baine in the lava. baine stay in the lava until the second pulverize. i'm takling in guild chat with my priesty friend, and i point out that i love how the tank kept baine in the lava the entire time. she says "yeah, me too. i had to pop everything to keep his sorry butt standing." now, i don't normally say this, but my priesty friend is in full ds heroic gear, and she had to work to keep this tank standing. she's a damn good priest, and when she says that the tank is squishy, i'm inclined to believe her. i do a quick /inspect on the tank, and gear is fine. mostly tank gear. maybe one piece of pvp gear (blue shoulders), and a couple ilvl 333 pieces. so, nothing too bad. i take a look at his spec (prot warrior btw), and his spec is mostly right. couple points he could've shifted here and there, but overall, not too bad. his gems, on the other hand, were everywhere. he had stam gems, str gems, mastery gems, and everything inbetween. had some enchants too, but not everything was enchanted.

anyways, next boss is jaina. oh joy! anyways, we start clearing trash. i mark the priest in each trash group. tank charges in, and i come to realize that i'm the only one killing the priests, and their lightwells. i would also like to note that the tank has terrible situational awareness at this rate. i say this because i killed a priest from 100 to 0 by myself, while he was smashing my face in. i pipe up in guild chat "this tank is severely lacking in the situational awareness department." we clear all five trash pats in that area, and each time, i'm the only one killing the priests and their lightwells, even though they are clearly marked with a skull. so, jaina finally shows up. she is fairly uneventful, aside from the fact that i'm the only one interrupting frost bolt volleys, and even then, only one out of every three.

we move on to murozond. we zone into the last area, and i say in guild chat "time to see how badly this tank gets wrecked!" "yeah," my priest replies. anyways, tank tells his hunter guildie to trap one of the caster dragonkin (corruptors?) in the first patrol. hunter runs up, and just stands there for almost a minute. "wtf is taking so long," my guildie says. "probably looking for his trap launcher button. probably the first time he's had to use it," i reply. i get an "lol." anyways, tank is standing there next to the hunter, ready to charge in once the trap is set. hunter first off a trap, aaaaaaaaaand, it's a frost trap -_- "ROFLMAO," is all i see in guild chat. "wow," i say. "just, wow." ok, hunter hit wrong trap. happens. as the pat comes running at us, i counterspell one of the casters to bring it into the party with the rest of the patrol. only, the tank isn't moving. he's just standing there with his thumb up his backside. we wipe after killing two of the mobs.

as we are running back, tank chimes in with "sorry, hottie at the door." -_- we rez, get buffed up, and proceed to roll out. hunter manages to find the right trap this time. we finish clearing trash without incident. i volunteer to get the hourglass because, if the tank is explaining mechanics to his guildies, i don't trust the hunter to effectively hit the hourglass. nothing against the hunter, but i just wouldn't trust him with it. priest guildie responds with a "thanks. i'd normally do it myself, but if i take my eye off him, even for a second, he'll go splat."

anyways, tank pulls murozond. only he tanks him with muro standing face first at the hour glass. oh goody! so, we all have to reposition to accomodate for the tanks lovely locale to tank the boss at. dps is slow going on this. tank is at 10k. the tanks dk and hunter guildies are at 7.5k and 12k, respectively, and i'm at 23k. i have to use all five charges on the hourglass, and even after using the last charge, it was still a close call. yellow, swirly balls of death were littering the ground.

so, we kill the boss, loot the chest, and just drop group. instantly. we don't even wait for loot to be distributed. we just wanted out.

anyways, sorry for the long read, but it was a long, and tedious dungeon.

tl;dr: Monday night PUG raids are evil and you should run away from them as fast as you can. Because if you don't, you will still run away from them - only, you'll be screaming.

I disagree! I'm new to the game and trying to break into raiding and got my first madness kill solo tanking on Monday. If not for Monday night/pre-expac desperation I probably wouldn't have gotten the chance. Now if I can just sneak into a few more raids to get the 6 remaining bosses.

I had a fun one a moment ago. End Time. Mage dps will be a significant player, but his fellow dps, herp and derp, will also make appearances.

Baine goes smoothly. Surprisingly so in light of what happened later. We get Sylvanas next and before each trash pack I say "Please kill the big one last." Big one dies with about half the pack still alive. Mage does 100% of his damage to the big one. Annoying but it just makes the fight longer, doesn't really threaten our survival. One dps manages to step in the purple several times but never stays in it long enough to actually die. By this time I'm realizing the dps is a bit low as we get a third call of the highborne but we kill her and move on.

No cc but the tank wasn't particularly squishy and we get through the trash without incident (I could have sworn hex worked on dragonkin, but the shaman said no). We pause for a moment before the pull. I say "Not it." Someone else calls out "ranged?" I realize our only ranged dps is the mage. Someone asks if he knows how to do the hourglass and he replies "yes." Taking that as acceptance we pull.

Two things go wrong. First, two of the dps are standing in front of the dragon. They eat every breath before the first hourglass is popped. I'm busy trying to heal three tanks while typing over and over again "don't stand in front of the dragon." One of them even has the gall to type "heals?" in a fight where 90% of the damage is completely avoidable. This distracts me from the second thing that's going wrong. The mage isn't hitting the hourglass. Someone asks who's supposed to be getting it, I reply "the mage" and he says "thanks for letting me know."

After the first hourglass finally gets popped he says "let me know when to hit it again" and I say to myself "!@#$ it." I run out to get the rest of them. At some point the shaman decides I need help healing and puts down healing rain, but fortunately he moved over to the side to do that so he isn't being breathed on anymore.

A gem is not sufficient reward for this.

you will take your PoS gem, and you will like it!

i usually get agi or str flasks on my priest as rewards. haven't gotten a pet, or a mount yet. it's either crappy gems, or flasks that i have no use for.
