Duped Vials: fact or fiction?
|
|
Hello GL forums!
A couple of new recruits in my guild are selling Vials of the Sand in trade. (they are presently 10-60 level range) Some of the other players on the the server are accusing them of item duping it due to there low level. I'm kinda at a loss on what I should do if I should do anything at all. I cannot prove or disprove the item in question but they are selling it for about 30k gold. (I am told this is cheap for this item, less than vendor price.) Should I have any concerns on this? I'm merely looking out for the rep of my guild. (at least I think it has a good rep) Best, Orren |

While odd, its not abnormal for people to use alts to sell items on the AH, so the low levels on their own aren't really a tip off on their own. As a guild member do they have known 85 level characters or are they stating these are their only ones?
As far as price, that doesn't mean much. Trust me, lots of stuff is sold in game for less than it should be worth, especially something like this if someone is trying to make some quick gold. A guaranteed 30k now is sometimes better than a potential 40k sometime in the future which could be days, weeks, or months. Have YOU asked them where they got it from? |

Some were selling on my server for 26k gold, just this week.
I have an idea, how about you ask the people in question? If you see people saying that the item is being "duped" ask the person who made that accusation if they were cheated of their gold for an item, if they were not, they are probably just trolling you and your guildies. |

Vials of Sand are pretty commonly used for transferring gold across realms if you are above the cap. Lots of people use them as currency for selling TCG items for this reason. You redeem the TCG item on a lvl 1, get a bunch of Vials and Gold for it, transfer back and sell the Vials for more gold.
If you are really concerned, ask them how they got them. If they dodge the question a bunch then maybe you can continue to be worried. But don't jump to conclusions. |

The players in question probably have Horde Mains on the realm. As for Alliance mains, I suspect they do not have them. Cho'galls is legendary for it's imbalance.
I haven't asked them where they got it because I'm almost positive they will give me the same response as if anyone else asked them.
If they made any sales, I haven't heard any complaints about it with the players on the realm being scammed or what not. |

They are selling them @ 20k a pop on my realm. As the expansion comes to the end you will see a huge drop.
As far as getting duped.. Screenshots or it didn't happen. Tell them to place a ticket asking a gm to look into it and have them respond to you when the ticket is answered. You can't always trust people on your realm. Guildies > Randoms. |

Here's an eight page thread I made about this a few months ago:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/5235398408 I DID ask people who are selling them at 12k where they got them, and they were from stolen guilds and/or they did not respond in English. I don't know if they are duped, but it's definitely not legit regardless. If you look at Illidan's trade chat or even our realm forums, you will see people selling them in mass quantity- over 100 at a time. These idiots and bots really ruin the spirit of the game for me, but alas, nothing you can do I guess. |
