Sometimes while I am playing this game, I have to log out or close out the game for various reasons. Lately, unless I go into my task manager and "kill" the "launcher.exe" process, WoW won't start back up. I don't like starting the game using wow.exe.
what is causing this? thanks in advance |

Same problem here. Whenever I choose "quit" from the WoW login screen, I have to manually shutdown the launcher.exe process from the Windows Task Manager if I want to start playing again. Restarting the computer also works, of course, since that also shuts down the launcher.
I've checked and launcher.exe remains an active process for hours after I have closed the WoW client. The only way to turn it off is manually or a computer restart. And as long as launcher.exe is running as a process, the shortcut won't start the game. |

Another background process may be interacting with the Launcher, preventing it from shutting down properly. I would start off with a Selective Startup, to prevent most programs from running in the background, and then look further for other background programs (using msinfo), and weed them out.
