Topic RP troll/griefer problems? Where?
90 Night Elf Druid
As most of us know, our RP community is pretty underground for the most part. I always hear excuses like "Oh, there's always trolls and griefers when you RP in public." Sure, if you go to Goldshire, you're going to attract some unwanted attention, but even then they're easy to ignore.
I've been testing this out with our growing RP community. Our group has all been RPing around Stormwind for a while now, and even when we all walked straight into the Trade District NO ONE bothered us. Some people stopped to watch, but that's what we want: for people to see RPing and be reminded that this is in fact an RP server. Some other people from our community were practically yelling that going to the TD was a HORRID idea and that we were only going to attract people who would harass us. Not a single person bothered us.
Once we even RPed in Goldshire for the fun of it. Sure, eventually we got some people in our face, practically spamming us, but we'd just /ignore them. After they realized they weren't effecting us in the slightest, they just went back to what they were doing and left us alone the rest of the night. That night we successfully RPed in Goldshire, and even attracted the attention of some beginner RPers who hadn't known anywhere else to look but Goldshire.
My point is that trolls are NO REASON OR EXCUSE not to roleplay where you are seen. Sure, if you like RPing in secluded spots, be my guest, but do not fear public areas because you think someone might come along and ruin your RP session. If they do, there's always /ignore. Eventually, they'll get bored and leave you alone. Who wants to jump around and spam people who don't react?
If we want this community to grow, we're going to have to make ourselves known. I mean, really, who wants to RP with the exact same small group of people every single day? A little variety can be fun! This applies to both sides. I don't know how bad the trolls are on Horde side, but the same concept applies. Ignore them and they will leave.
And as for any new people who are looking to possibly try a new, maybe less-populated server, don't let the scare of trolls turn you away from our growing server. This is an RP server, after all. If they don't like RP, they shouldn't be here.
Okay, I'm done with my rant. xD; If you've had some bad experiences with trolls in certain areas or from certain people where they simply wouldn't leave you alone, please let people know here so they know to avoid those places/people. I know that sometimes, no matter what you do, some people won't leave you alone. Better for us all to know them now before we all go through the same bad experience.
