Been gone a long time!

So its been about 3 years since I last played. I used to pvp a ton back in the old days before they nerfed everything to instances. Did the level up to 80 but quit well before Cataclysm. Whats the state of the game/server? I realize this is a generic question but as someone that has missed a entire expansion is it worth coming back into the game now? Specifically, what is the state of pvp as that has always been my main focus. Logged in to look around last night and didn't recognize much. Obviously way behind with my 20k hp versus the 133k I see running around now.
